One of the best Japanese plate lunches in Downtown. It’s always made fresh to order so the wait can be over 10 minutes especially during lunch rush hour.

Food: highly recommend their chicken karaage and hambagu with ponzu sauce. The chicken karaage is well marinated and moist. It’s a bit different from the typical chicken karaage. The batter is light and crispy. I believe they use cornstarch instead of flour. Also, they drizzle sweet and spicy Thai sauce along with a light mayo. They pair so WELL! The toss salad on the side is always fresh, clean, and crisp.

I would also recommend their hambagu with ponzu sauce. It comes with an egg, a side of toss salad, and French fries. The ponzu sauce acidic citrusy taste makes the patty less greasy. It’s my go-to order. Just a bit sad that it’s only available on Thursdays and Fridays.

Service: Always friendly service every time I go!

Atmosphere: it’s only take-out, but there’s outdoor seating for you to eat.

You can’t go wrong with the ahi special…it’s my fave and because I work close by I find myself returning for more every few weeks. Very friendly service and it’s nice that the seating is outdoors (with umbrellas). I shared a pic…it normally comes with rice but I customize my order with salad only.

The old Irifune on Kapahulu was one of my favorite restaurants in Honolulu. I was so happy when it re-opened at this location. The food is just as good as I remember it. I love the seared ahi and the bento is a fantastic deal at $14 for sahimi, tempura, and ginger pork. Plus, the service is always amazing! Such a gem!

The food was incredible and quick! The seating outside is very nice and quiet. I highly recommend checking this place out! We had the karaage chicken and sashimi combo and the garlic mushroom chicken! The sashimi was perfect and the karaage was perfectly fired, seasoned, and sauced up! The garlic mushroom chicken was the perfect balance of garlic to chicken flavor ratio. I would have taken pictures but I ate the food too fast

Overall a great place to get good rice, chicken Katsu, curry and salad. Very quiet place, they have tables outside as well, there is plenty of empty open garden kind space to sit as well. Price reasonable for the food. Good quality maintained.

Wow great lunch food with prices around $15. Friendly service, not necessarily quick if you’re in a hurry because the food was all made to order which is great!

Got to try their chicken karaage ahí combo. Wow the karaage was fried to perfection. Hot crispy and juicy, with a sweet drizzle of sauce on top. The ahi was fresh and it’s delicious with the ponzu dressing. A small lettuce salad was included. At least I got a bit of veggies in my meal.

Only outdoor seating. The public concrete benches outside always had flies, just glad there were no flies at the tables bothering customers. They also emptied the trash can pretty promptly once it’s full. Clean and well maintained grounds.

Love, love this place! The food is “home cooking”, just great ingredients at a good price, delicious flavors. It’s like a mix of traditional Japanese and more “robust” savory if that makes any sense. They have a wide selection of meat, fish and vegetarian options, something for everyone. We tried seafood options but I’m sure you can’t go wrong since we saw people ordering lots of other stuff from the menu.

The location is also good, secluded spot in a large plaza with shade and away from the noisy roadways. Definitely check it out!

A very authentic family Japanese restaurant. Prices were reasonable and the food was plentiful. It appears to be a local lunch favorite.

Super authentic walk-up counter bento place. There is a seating area but it’s only open weekdays at lunchtime. Highly recommend anything that includes the chicken karaage. They also do catering bentos for large groups but you have to order in advance.
