Familiar Caribbean comfort meals are the draw at this family-owned restaurant with a laid-back vibe.

First time there. Recommended by a friend. Had high hopes, but was quickly disappointed. The oxtail was tough and fatty and not seasoned well. The rice and peas was soggy. The curry goat was not seasoned properly and had a funny taste. The chicken patty was salty with no chicken to be found. The coco bread was amazing!

Let me start by saying I’ve had a lot of oxtail with rice and peas. From Jamaica to New Jersey to my days in South Florida. I was excited To discover this restaurant in Woodbridge. I visited twice now and it was so good but TODAY …. I’m not sure who pissed off the Chef because it was so bland and lacked any flavor and seasonings. It tasted as if I had attempted to make the dish myself.
The oxtail, oh God..bland, The cabbage bland, Rice and peas..bland and white-ish red-ish looking. Not the deep red-ish color, can barely find the peas. If you know you know.
I ordered the small dish for $28 and usually will lick the bowl clean but today I couldn’t even get myself to eat half of it. Oh the two pieces of plantain was nice hence the 2 stars.

One of my favorite places to eat. On two occasions after ordering my food it sat on the counter after the cashier said my number was called which I obviously didn’t hear over the atmosphere noise. The attendant should have a sense of situational awareness. Food is brought out and no accountability for which order is pick up or dine in.

I really wanted to enjoy this spot, but a few things missed the mark for me. The curry goat and curry chicken were both VERY SALTY and the jerk chicken tasted more like a stew than actual jerk, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the customer service was good and the seating area was comfortable and organized.

I decided to stop doing reviews for Google because I have done a lot of work I have put up a lot of information about places and Google does not see it fit to even give sensible gifts. I am using Google voice so I am not going to put in commas and . so please forgive me for my lack of punctuation and this post
However, I was at home I was bored a friend called me and invited me there and I decided to go. I went there I stepped in and loved the aura I love the furniture it was clean the menu was very nice and I am familiar with Jamaican cuisine. I had oxtails with rice and beans and I also ordered some jerked chicken. My sides were ripe plantains and steamed cabbage.
The flavor of the spices in the meal was delicious. I can cook but this place is a close second. They have the Jamaican fruit cake, Jamaican gizzada, Jamaican grater cake Jamaican patties and Coco bread. They had Jamaican drinks.
I was very impressed by the meals on the prices were so reasonable that you would not find anywhere else. The cashier was very respectful and pleasant. Other workers were nice people they were pleasant and humble.

Definitely hit or miss when it comes to quality of the food. I usually get the jerk chicken and oxtail. Service could use a bit of improvement. Honestly it just depends when you go to determine if you going to get a good batch of quality food or not. Some times it’s on point and some times it’s just not it. Also it may be time to try some different to go containers because usually there is spillage into the bag most times even when I carry the bag carefully

Great flavor with the tiniest bit of heat to the jerk chicken. Stopped here to get a quick bite as I headed home from out of town. There’s plenty of free parking and the place was very clean inside. The cashier was very friendly. I got the jerk chicken, which came with rice and beans, cabbage, and a single plantain. That would be my one negative is that there was only one slice of plantain. Other than that, the food was great. Tender. Flavorful. Adequate amount.

My 1st review was 3 years ago when I stumbled across Irie! & 3 Years later their food is still consistently good! The staff is kind, the food is always fresh. I’ve added a couple more pics of the curry chicken roti and brown stew chicken. If I lived closer I’d literally be there once a week. Best Jamaican food I’ve had in VA!
Previous reviews: Best Oxtails In NOVA!!! Roti was great, coco bread was amazing, beef patty was nice and flaky
