Food: OK, solid for US ramen. Nice to be able to get Hakata style. Broth was solid, presentation was lacking but not terrible. As lunch, this bowl of ramen did not leave me feeling disgusted at the amount of food and oil consumed, which I think is a failing in the world of ramen. It lacks the carefully put-together excess that should be present.
Price: too high. Without adding the $4 egg, my $17 bowl of ramen was fairly simplistic and the portion size didn’t feel like a serious indulgence the way ramen really should. I think this is one of the better options for ramen I’ve had in the bay, but as with most US ramen, the value is just not there and this value is worse than some other very solid I’ve had in the area.
Atmosphere and Service: Nice, clean restaurant with attentive staff. The disposable chopsticks are cheap and do fray – not the end of the world. A few hand-trucks of ingredients came through the front at about 1pm – also not a big deal, but did have to interact with that on my way out. Overall very pleased with the atmosphere and service, no strong complains or issues. The Japanese menu wall art is a nice touch.
Overall: For me personally, I probably won’t come back, but if you’re into the local ramen scene you’ll probably enjoy this spot.

Everything taste good , flavorful but not too salty, the fried chicken is bomb ! Gotta give a try! Much more Expensive than regular ramen or noodle place

Salty and greasy. Even adding warm water into the soup doesn’t help. Ordered the miso ramen. The miso paste seems not fully blended. Pickle is good tho.

SO good. I came here at least 30+ times over the past year and was never disappointed. The ramen is delicious, and they have great veg options as well. (daizu no chikara) miso is a must try, veg or not, really hits the spot. only downside is that it is $25+ everytime, so certainly a bit pricey but worth it imo. (all the pictures are from seperate visits LOL)

The food favor was bland, salty, and cold. The noodle was warm and all the sides were cold. There was no broth. The price does not match the quality of the food. First and last time at this place. For 4 people we spent $146.00 – 3 bowl of ramen, two sides, sushi (15 minutes wait), side of cucumber, 2 drinks. We ordered a side of broth and it was salty. So disappointed.

The food was ok, but not great. I had buns with chicken, shrimp and pork. I also had chicken karage rice bowl. Everything was covered in some form of mayonnaise and served with iceberg lettuce. Not a big fan.

Ippudo Berkeley never disappoints! From the moment you walk in, the friendly staff makes you feel welcome and taken care of. The food is just as incredible—the airy steam buns are perfectly soft and filled with flavorful goodness. The crunchy spicy karaage has the ideal balance of crispiness and heat, making it an absolute must-try. And the ramen? Simply outstanding. The sesame oil broth adds a rich depth that makes every bite comforting and satisfying. Whether you’re a ramen enthusiast or just looking for an amazing meal, Ippudo Berkeley is the place to go!

One of my favorite ramen places! If you get a bun, the chicken bun is a must-have. The crispness, crunch, and the sauce are incredible. The noodles were well-cooked and the broth was delicious. My friend and I shared one bowl and it was the perfect portion for us since we had a late lunch and stopped by a dessert shop before an early dinner. We thought we had to wait for 20-30 minutes for a table for 2 at a busy dinner hour but we didn’t wait long! About 15 minutes. Reasonable prices, and friendly staff. When we come back we’re trying the other buns and getting extras of the chicken bun!

Karaka Spicy ramen was 3/5. It tasted like a savory nutty stew (not my favorite). Comparing this ramen to ichiran and Ramen Nagi this ramen reminded me of curry with ramen toppings. Noodles were too soft for my liking.
-have to come back and try the other ramen flavors and see if I like them better.
Karage not the best. Just ok.
Bun medley was ok.
Service nice and fast.
Atmosphere: large space, nice and airy, comfortable to sit in big group.
