So glad to see Ipoh Kopitiam expand from their main Alhambra branch to the Arcadia mall food court! It’s a great addition to the local food scene.

The setup is super convenient with a simple menu and self-order kiosks. Just a heads-up that this location opens at 11 AM, so they don’t offer the breakfast sets you might be used to at the original spot. The ordering process was smooth, and the food came out fairly quickly.

We ordered the roti with curry and the Hainan chicken rice. The quality is consistent—it tastes exactly the same as the original restaurant. If you are already at the mall, this is a solid, convenient choice for lunch or dinner.

So waited in line to see the hype and it was good. Got the HK bun, Singapore style hainan chicken with mala milk tea. Service was pretty fast but like a lot of other reviews, half the menu was blocked off on the digital ordering screen. The food was pretty tasty but much better when warm. I ate half there and half at home so it’s much better fresh and warm.

The only disappointment was the Malaysian milk tea. Not what I was expecting and would not recommend for ppl for are used to Taiwanese style milk tea.

This review is long overdue!
As loyal customers since the Alhambra location had a soft opening (actually, even before they had a physical location), we were beyond excited for their second spot and drove in from West LA to catch the soft opening.

Located in the first-floor food court of the Santa Anita Mall, the new location offers plenty of seating and convenient two easy-to-use kiosks for ordering. We loved the decor—it really nailed the nostalgic vibe of a traditional Malaysian kopitiam. The selection is a bit smaller than their Alhambra location, but they still have all the classics (White/black coffee, milk tea, Kaya Toast, Roti Canai, Hainan Chicken Rice, and Nasi Lemak, Pandan cake, etc) are available. They hadn’t started serving roast chicken rice and BBQ Pork Char Siu during our visit on 1/16, but the staff mentioned those are coming soon.

Even with a lunch rush, the 30-minute wait flew by thanks to their text notification system, which let us shop while we waited. The food quality is just as excellent as the Alhambra location. Can’t wait to go back for BBQ pork rice and roast chicken rice soon!

Returned for another lunch visit, a week after coming on opening day. A short line to get to the 2 self-ordering kiosks, and glad everything is available today.
Got the food and drinks in just under 20 minutes, which is fine for the amount of orders in line and the food is cooked to order. Coconut rice was great, and both curry was tender and delicious. Coffee & tea were both spot on, like in Msia.
Looking forward to be back when the 2 special “coming soon” dishes are available.

I know the stereotype—I walk in and people probably expect me to ask if the black pepper is “too spicy.” But I’m here to set the record straight: some of us actually have a pulse when it comes to heat.

I went with the Nasi Lemak, and it tasted exactly like Malaysia. The sambal has a legitimate kick that cleared my sinuses in the best way possible. It’s hard to find authentic flavor like this, especially in a mall setting.

The real victory, though, was the Hainanese Chicken and Rice. My two-year-old absolutely demolished it, which is a massive win when you’re trying to avoid the usual “chicken nugget” trap. It’s rare to find a place that satisfies my craving for actual spice while keeping a toddler happy at the same time.

We topped it all off with the Milk Tea, which is mandatory. If you’re at Santa Anita and want a meal that actually has some soul, this is the spot. Plus, the service was quick—no crazy lines yet!

I think I need to come back after the soft opening period. I had the beef rendang nasi lemak. It was flavorful, but a bit too salty for my taste. Be prepared to wait a long time because the wait takes forever. Ordering is done through a self order kiosk, which is straightforward, but it does not speed things up much. Worth another try once things settle down.

Absolutely love the hainanese style chicken rice, served with good size and very tasty tender chicken. It is take-out restaurant inside Arcadia food court, quick and nice service. Must try!!

Chicken curry nasi lemak tasted bland and chicken was very dried. For amount money you paid, it’s not worth it. You got two tiny bone in dried chicken, a boiled egg, 4 tiny slices cucumbers, bland hard rice and a tbs chili paste. What a ripped off!! Now, I feeling sick after eating it. For $17 I can get more decent dinner/ lunch somewhere else.

No wow factor on the Hainan chicken rice dish. All the hoopla IMO. Tiny portion, with most of the items sold out. Overrated. Not again.
