Good parking, great staff, and clean place! The food looked ok but wasn’t that great. It doesn’t seem like they used any rubs at all to season any of the proteins on the mixed bbq platter. The brisket was dry due to being held for so long in a warmer and it’s easy to see as per the photo where the color turns flat grey in the middle. The ribs weren’t even worthy of being put in the to go box. The sides need some work as well. They were average at best. The cornbread was great! I’d suggest hitting up the local food trucks selling top notch bbq over this place.

Stopped here for lunch on my way to Sioux City. What a GREAT stop. The brisket hit the spot perfectly. That cornbread…..hooooo boy…that cornbread. With that honey butter, it tasted just as good as cake.
I tried all the sauces and didn’t find any overly hot. The Carolina was more vinegar-y than anything and absolutely would not stop pouring from the bottle. The molasses was very sweet.

I’ve had many people tell me I needed to give this place a shot. I ordered the brisket sandwich, macaroni and cheese, and french fries. The brisket was okay; it was on the drier side and did not have much flavor at all. As others have said, I, too, was expecting more smoke and flavor on the meat. I could not really taste any at all. The macaroni and cheese and fries were both excellent! The fries were hot, crispy, and fresh. The macaroni and cheese was super creamy and full of flavor. The restaurant is tidy and clean inside; nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly. Many item prices are spendy and overpriced in my opinion.

Very disappointing. This place was ok once upon a time. Really only when it opened. I go back every year just to see if it has gotten any better and sadly it just keeps getting worse. It is sad to say that the meal you will get a famous daves will be 10x the meal at half the price. Whoever runs this place needs to get replaced or learn to do a better job. The staff seems completely lost when helping people. The price is definitely not worth the mediocre meal you get. My wife even commented that she does not know how to make bbq ribs and the ones she had there taste as she would imagine hers would if she attempted to make some with no experience. I had burnt ends….Probably the worst burnt ends I have ever had burnt ends should be tender not like these it was like chewing on a rubber boot. What a joke. The pulled pork sandwich was ok, but not for the price, it was just basic pulled pork on a bun. Cole slaw was bland. My wife had the half rack of ribs, potato salad and mac and cheese. This mac and cheese was not good why was it so gritty? Probably because it was as cold as all the other food. Yes all the food we got that is supposed to be at the very least warm…It was not even room temp. I would avoid this place. You are better off throwing your money in the trash and calling a mcrib real bbq,

Disappointed with everything but the burnt ends. Brisket was tasteless. Ribs were tough and had no rub on them. The “beans” were basically meatless chili. Would not recommend. Also over 50 bucks for 2 people for lunch which was 1/4 pound of meat scoop of beans and a fountain drink!

This is horrible! So I have been dieing to go here for a year since I heard of it and read their talks about how good they are I have not found 1 place in the Midwest including cookoffs that have good BBQ. We finally are in the area so we get there there’s yelling and screaming we can here in our car as we pull up. It’s the same when we get inside. We stand at the counter for at least 5 mins before finally to teens maybe 15 or 16 show up to take orders. I ordered the Big ole platter $69 and a $5 piece of cornbread I threw the second tray away check the pic I posted with the meat bit off. Trat was full. Lets break this down the kid didn’t tell the other what I ordered so we got small tray side while everyone else got the pints I asked if it was a pint in that tray he looked dumbfounded at the other kid and said nothing. Food: Cornbread so sticky and chewy it stuck to my teeth tasted like cake, while we ate I kept getting a rotted meat smell. Couldn’t figure it out. I tasted the potatoe salad, so did the wife it tasted like it had dish soap in it. Burnt ends tastes literally burned and candied and cold! Mac and cheese was ok, next the chicken it was fairly good. Brisket dry even though it was greasy as could be and it smelled like old meat over the smoke the wife said it was tasted like a crockpot it did. The sausage he basically air fired in front of me was actually decent good flavor. Pulled pork was dry and crockpot flavor as well. The turkey was good as well except the end piece was dry. Went back for for brisket to see what was going on I picked up the stack of meat and the wife gagged the bad meat smell hit her hard when I moved the brisket. Pork ribs also had the same old meat smell like it had just started going bad. We dumped everything and left since kids were running the show and no where to be found so I couldn’t complain. I will never go back here and do not recommend even just for the chicken or sausage. Look for my pics. Also we both were sick as soon as we got on the road home.

Restaurant is super nice, clean, and modern. Staff were helpful and very friendly. The meat is fresh, moist, perfect. The cornbread was awesome. We also ordered the potato salad and baked beans. The potato salad was flavorful and had a red pepper flavor. The baked beans were very spicy and bold. They had two sauces available, bourbon sweet and Texas heat. The bourbon sauce was extreme BOURBON and the Texas heat had a strong chili flavor. Although we didnt personally care for the sauce or the bold flavors of the potato salad & baked beans….the meat alone was absolutely worth it. It’s not that those items weren’t good, as I know that everyone has their thing, they just weren’t for us. But unless you try it you wouldn’t know. They were definitely high quality, fresh, and homemade. I know that we will definitely be back and I have plenty of family & friends who would love the bold flavors. We ordered the chicken, brisket, and pulled pork. I’m still shocked at how perfect all the meat was as well as being tender and juicy. You choose your amounts of meat. Excellent smoked BBQ!!!

Oh my, I threw half my brisket away!! ZERO flavor. Very expensive for bland food. I haven’t been this disappointed in long time. Now the cornbread was delicious. Completely over priced. Even Famous Dave’s a fast food joint has more flavor.

We popped in for lunch while in Le Mars for work. From the moment you walk in, you know from the smell & layout you’re in a BBQ joint. The service is Texas style by weight. Pick your meats & your weight, and then your sides. The brisket & jalapeño cheddar sausage were both really good. I’m partial to Texas style salt-pepper-garlic rub on brisket, but whatever they are using on theirs at Iowa BBQ Co is also good with a slight sweetness that isn’t overpowering. It’s well-balanced and the meat itself was really moist.
The place is a little pricey, but worth it.
