Since 1992! International Pocket Café at URI Kingston is officially OPEN! This reopening is not just about great food, it’s about love, family, and memories. After 30+ years… We dedicate this reopening to David, aka falafel Dave who passed away a year ago. He have so much love for this place and for everyone who walked through its doors. His spirit inspired his family to come together, rebuild, and bring International Pockets back to life—bright, beautiful, and full of love. As soon as we walked through the door of this mostly takeout restaurant, my daughter and I were greeted cheerfully by a friendly man who immediately handed us two complimentary falafel with hummus. We ordered, and the food was prepared in front of us. Customers can see the prep area through the glass case. All the food was fresh and the case itself was pristine. I ordered a lamb gyro pocket and my daughter ordered the chicken gyro pocket. The meat was fresh and juicy. At the last moment, I ordered a side of falafel, but my daughter had already paid. When I told the owner, he said not to worry about it. That was very kind. We sat outside at a bistro table. The plaza at URI was mostly quiet on a Saturday, but there was a steady stream of customers here. The hard-working owner chatted with us outside for a bit and later brought us each a piece of baklava. Heavenly. I highly recommend this restaurant. The sandwiches were so delicious that we forgot to take a pic until we were almost finished.

Absolutely incredible blend of spices and seasoning on the available vegetables and toppings for the falafel or shawarma wraps. Furthermore, the house made pita chips, hummus, tahini, and tabouleh were all amazing as well. There were also dark chocolate covered dates for a desert item, as a special seasonal offering. Will certainly return in the future.

I’m glad I finally stopped in to give it a try. It was an odd time, so it wasn’t very busy. The person who took and made my order was very friendly. I was handed a falafel and hummus to try while I waited. It was crispy and delicious. I ordered a gyro salad. I wasn’t expecting the meat to be in a sliced patty form, but it was tasty. All the ingredients were very fresh. I really liked the herb combination on the top of the salad. I’ll definitely go back when I’m in the area

came here and got two salads – tabouleh salad and house salad w/ gyro. there was a little misunderstanding because i ordered online, but i came back and the owner was very understanding and accommodating. he even gave us a falafel and a small dessert for the miscommunication. awesome service, will be back. 🙂

What can I say great tasting food, fresh food, and great service. Can’t say enough they give you your moneys worth can’t believe how they manage to wrap up this stuff it’s crazy lol. Highly recommend one of the best falafel places you can go.
