The mushroom soup came out hot, but flavorless. The Niman Ranch Pork Chop was dry, the Dixon Ranch T-bone was gamey and risotto was cooked well, just needed a bit more seasoning.
The service was there and very friendly, but not very attentive or efficient. I would ask for one thing and I could see them doing a bunch of other tasks before getting back with my request. Due to some circumstances, I needed to leave in a hurry so I asked for a box and the check. They helped me packed up my leftovers, but took a few orders, sent out a few entrees, came back to ask if we wanted desserts before bringing the check. Unless I am craving a $36 piece of salmon or if the menu changes seasonally, I don’t think I will come back. The ambiance makes it a nice date spot though.
Location: Taking over the old location of Macaroni Grill off Laguna, Interlude is a nice restaurant to open at this location with a prime location off the freeway, lots of parking and close to many eating options. Interlude gave a face lift to the building but it’s not just limited to the exterior. The inside has a nice refresh and an open main dining area with an open view of the kitchen.
Service: Interlude had recently open in this past week so it felt like we got a chance to try this place during its early opening. The staff is on point and our host and server were attentive, friendly and on point. We had a set right in front of the kitchen and the staff seemed to be working well and in sync. It seemed like we had just come in before the even rush, so we received our order lightning quick.
Food: Interlude focuses on quality over quantity with a limited number of items as you would expect from a restaurant at this level. The prime rib eye and lamb were cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed both the items but I think the lamb takes the prize.
We ordered a few drinks which were decent. No complaints on my end but noting exactly to right about either. Next time I think I will pick up the trief
And true old fashioned. Dessert was also great, maybe slightly too much heat applied to the Crème Brûlée but the raspberries really held the dish together.
Coffee: I want to give a special shout out to this place for using coffee beans from Anchor and Tree in its affogato. It’s a nice touch seeing them use a local roaster and seeing that has me wishing I could give this place an extra star. Affogato was top tier and a great way to end this meal!
We were greeted in a timely manner- started with water. Wife decided to get a glass of red wine. She enjoyed it. The menu was simple but does have selections. We were delighted to hear that this location is the second restaurant only in the greater Sacramento area that offers a wood fire grill. This grill gives you a wonderful aroma of smoke in the air- not overwhelming…. more of an appetizing kind of aroma. For me anyway….
We started with two appetizers: Grilled Blackened Prawns and Flash Fried Brussel Sprouts.
The prawns.. were delicious, however to my liking, I don’t think I’d order them again. The flavors are solid with everything it comes with, however the bite was a bit tough. Possibly overcooked some, but not a big deal. The Brussel Sprouts were SOLID! So delicious! I’d order those a thousand times again! I’m usually a salad eater before my meal, but this time the Wild Mushroom Puree Seasonal Soup sounded so good…. It did not disappoint! SO GOOD! Ended up getting two spoons to share with the wife, however I struggled to allow her to eat some! LOL
For our entree’s, she chose the Risotto which was delicious! (she actually shared some!)
Multiple items were screaming my name from the menu but I chose the Prime New York- Ordered it Rare. It was served with a delicious sauce on the plate and some potatoes. For being a Prime New York, about 35% of the meat was tough and the rest was tender. Not exactly sure why, but it was delicious. All in all, we’d definitely come back. Nice to have a pretty damn good fine dining option in Elk Grove.
