For a bill around $100.00. It was upsetting!!
We were seated within 15 minutes in a booth with a much colered duct tape as vinyl. The dining room was nearly 1/3rd full.
We Were given menu’s and allowed the time to look at them for 15 minutes. When the staff came back we were ready to order (also a bit thirsty). Luckily our beverage orders were taken.
Beverages came 10 minutes later. Again in their defense there had to be nearly 1/3rd of the tables occupied.
So nearly 45 minutes after walking in we were able to order.
After ordering, from an extremely concise menu (which I appreciate) (I mean who doesn’t want to know exactly how many slices of boiled egg, crutons, cherry tomatoes come on a side salad).
During this time a soup (French Onion) was brought to me. I had not ordered it. It looked absolutely delicious! However i didn’t order it. That being the case I brought it to our servers attention when they eventually back. She expressed regrets and took it away, and deposited on another table to eat. Wow.
Our Main course came to our table in a breakneck speed of another 45 minutes.
Unfortunately this is where things turned south.
Our entire tables food was severely overcooked. All three plates. They tried a second time on one entrée (the steak) which also was overcooked. The wait staff attempted to go with the old “you should taste it.. the flavor…” ok a medium steak ordered doesn’t “taste good” at 180 degrees F.
Really wanted this bar/lounge to be a hit. Unfortunately it didn’t meet the hype.
Looked like the pull tabs may have been worth trying though, as that’s what the working staff was occupied with.
$150.00. 2 sandwiches with fries, 2 apps, 2 beers, 1 steak w fries and salad. Including tip (20%)
They say never say never. However I feel comfortable saying your dining time and dollars might be more enjoyable elsewhere.
We just moved to Alexandria in the past month. My wife still works in the Twin Cities and was away for work. Today was my birthday. So I left work, called to place a take-out order. I even told them that it was my birthday and that I’m eating alone tonight & wanted to place a take-out order. Half thinking, maybe they’d offer something small for free, or a discount, or even just a few extra fries as a kind gesture or feeling sorry for me eating alone on my birthday.
Time: just before 3 p.m. on a Thursday. I arrived and there were maybe 3 cars in the lot. Definitely NOT busy. My order was ready when I arrived. I was given the credit card receipt to sign and left a $3 tip for handing me my food as he stood and watched me sign. No “thank you”, just a “Have a good day”. I left to go enjoy my food while it was still hot. Opened up my to-go box and was disappointed with the portion size for the price. Ate my small portion of fries first as I always do (because they always cool off so fast). Then took my first bite of the burger. All I could taste was char. I didn’t even order it well-done, nor did they ask how I wanted it cooked. I opened it up and looked at the bottom. It was very charred all across the bottom. I couldn’t taste anything else but the charred burger patty. When I tried to scrape the burnt parts off, half the patty thickness was gone. I eventually just ate the bun and green olives and tossed the meat. Not my favorite experience, and not sure how soon I’ll be back. Disappointed, as it was a place I held high regard for and even had purchased some sweatshirts from them in the past. I really hope this is an anomaly and not their new normal. I normally am not someone who gives reviews, but this one just really bothered me. I gave it 2 stars only b/c of my postive experiences in the past and my small amount of fries were good. Feels too “mean” to give 0 or 1 star. I genuinely hope and pray it was just an atypical experience.
