Never a bad experience. I’ve never found anything but positivity and affirmaton and inclusiveness from patrons and staff. In a rough world come rest your heels here. Always above expectations. Cannot recommend the loving bar tenders and patrons any more.
Staff is above and beyond , patrons are nothing but lovely, this is the place to be.
Oh and I’m sure other reviews have mentioned it but THE WINGS. Do not sleep on the wings their buffalo sauce is chefs kiss
Edit: all the bartenders I have met have treated; me with respect despite my weirdness, I’ve felt welcomed even…your not gonna find that with most place. This place is done right. I’ll be a life-time patron unless something changes. This is the small town bar you dream of.

I pulled into the parking lot a little reluctant to get out. This is a tavern in a small rural town in Illinois, and it was dark outside—felt a little sketchy at first. Like most folks, I know the stereotype about small-town bars and outsiders. I’m in town on business, all the way from a small town called Splendora, Texas, so I definitely stood out.
I finally worked up the nerve to go inside and ordered some wings I’d heard were the best in the area—and they absolutely lived up to the hype. Every patron was friendly, and the bartender was fantastic. She was even singing under her breath to a song, and honestly, she sounded great.
I had a Miller Lite that was cold as the Rockies, and my food came out quickly. Even though I was a new face, I was treated like a regular from the moment I walked in.
Kudos to The Inbetween Tavern for proving that good hospitality is alive and well in small-town Illinois. Thank you for making a Texas boy feel welcome.

Myself and some coworkers went into this bar on Saturday to have some wings. My coworker is Hispanic. My other coworker is a black gentleman, and I am a white woman when we walked in we noticed a sign that said must be 16 years, which was very strange due to the fact that it was a bar and had gambling machines, but not unheard of. When we walked in everyone in the bar stopped and stared at us. My Hispanic coworker asked if they had menus the man I would say gentleman, but he was not a gentleman behind the bar said I might if you have an ID I and my black coworker did not hear what he said to her. She walked over and said he wants ID as we were reaching for our IDs he’s slamming his hands down on the bar and says ID now come on let’s do this. let’s go very very rude FYI, my Hispanic coworker is 38. My black coworker is 34 and I am 53. We had no problem showing ID what we did have a problem was the slamming of the hands and demanding ID by pounding his hands on the bar. They made us feel very very uncomfortable almost like they do not want different nationalities in their bar, I would not recommend this bar to anyone we got up and walked out.

My fiance suprised me with wings from here on my birthday a couple weeks ago and man I have to tell you, that Buffalo sauce they make is hands down amazing. Top tier. They could easily bottle and sell that stuff and make a killing. If you haven’t tried wings from here, you’re missing out.

Got the hot wings to go . They were some of the best wings I’ve ever had. I live in Lake St Louis , was taken there by a friend, so glad she did. Can’t wait to go there and sit and have a few Stags , which is my favorite. Looking forward to order other items from the menu. The day I was there , the bartender and patrons were very friendly. Great atmosphere, good food. Due to gambling machines inside people under 21 aren’t allowed to be indoors, but that’s the only issue for students at the local college.
