I’ve been to Peru thrice in the last year and this was THE BEST I’ve had outside of Peru. Generous portions, reasonable prices, and INCREDIBLE, authentic flavors.
The chicken cuasa had a bit too much salt in the chicken, but otherwise it was exactly what it’s supposed to be. The ahí tuna tartar was perfection. Aji de gallino, perfect. The tacu tacu con lomo was INSANE. Better than any I’d had in Lima or Trujillo or Cusco.
The tres leches cake was the single best I’ve ever had.
Listen, people – I was ready to hate it and rip it apart – it’s a 10/10 highly recommend it get here and eat all the things. Love it.
Octopus- tasty but salty
Bistec a lo pobre – steak was super salty and rice wasn’t too good
Arroz com mariscos – huge portion but presentation was really bad. 80% rice and 20% seafood.
We asked for a cappuccino and they said no cappuccino, only espresso. When he brought the coffee we realized that was not espresso, just drip coffee
Tres leches was good.
Service was weird. Guy was nice but they would not come to our table for long periods and the girl was just there standing and even though we were making eye contact, she never came to check on us…
I would not come back!
The food at this restaurant takes me right back to Chao and relaxing with a delicious meal after a day in the dirt.
The Saltado is so good. The steak is juicy, tender, and perfectly prepared.
The Aji de Gallina has the perfect blend of chicken and potatoes and the sauce is savory and delicious.
The Aji sauce is exactly how I remember it- green, spicy, and flavorful.
I *might* have added an entire sauce cup of it to my food.
If you are looking for really good, flavorful, and interesting food, this is the place for it!
The last time I went they had a wonderful performer there playing guitar and singing. It was a beautiful contribution to the already lovely ambiance.
I can only compare what I ate to the food in both Chao and Huanchaco. I think I only had dinner once in Lima and twice in Trujillo and they were more upscale and fancy so not like the regular food I had the rest of the time.
I DO NOT eat nor like corn, but the fried kernel bowl they give you upon arrival was something I could get into, especially since it came with a sauce. Will be back.
