I had one of their cocktails too, they have a whiskey sour with an Indian twist to it. Not the regular whisky sour you’ll have but this is very good in a different way too.
The service of the staff was really good and attentive. They were on their feet till we finish dinner. It’s a must visit if you love Indian food.
Without a doubt, this was the finest Mutton Biriyani I have ever had in Colombo — flawlessly spiced, aromatic, and bursting with authentic flavour. The Tandoori Chicken was equally exquisite, tender and beautifully charred to perfection. The prawns were truly best of class — succulent, perfectly seasoned, and unmatched in tenderness.
The in-house wine, personally recommended by Mr. Dayan, was remarkable — perfectly balanced with a tranquil, lingering aftertaste that elevated the entire dining experience.
A special mention must go to Mr. Dayan for his exceptional service — genuinely warm, attentive, and imbued with a rare sense of human touch. His professionalism and kindness made our evening truly memorable.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking an elegant and refined Indian dining experience in the heart of the city.
My recent dinner at Indiya was nothing short of spectacular. Perched on the 23rd floor of the luxurious Cinnamon Life hotel at the City of Dreams in Colombo, this fine-dining Indian restaurant offers more than just a meal; it offers an experience that engages all the senses.
From the moment I was seated, the tastefully done ambience set the tone. The elegant décor, combined with the breathtaking panoramic views of the city, created a sophisticated and intimate atmosphere perfect for a special evening.
The culinary journey began with the Tandoori Kala jhinga (black prawns). This dish was a masterpiece of flavour and presentation. The prawns were perfectly cooked, emerging from the tandoor with a beautiful char and served on a bed of sweet and tangy mango chutney that created a symphony of taste with every bite. It was so delicious I had to strategically save one prawn to savour as my final, perfect mouthful.
For the main course, the Mutton Bhuna was an absolute revelation. The mutton was fall-off-the-bone tender and simmered in a gravy that was deeply aromatic and complex. It had that rich, homely flavour that speaks of slow cooking and expert spicing, yet was presented with the finesse of a high-end establishment. A special mention must go to the Ajwaini Paratha—crispy, flaky, and infused with the distinct flavour of ajwain (carom seeds).
I must note, the portion sizes for the main dishes are incredibly generous. The mutton bhuna was substantial and could easily be shared between two people, offering great value for such premium quality.
Throughout the evening, the service was impeccable—elegant, attentive, and wonderfully non-intrusive. The staff was knowledgeable and added to the refined feel of the evening without ever making me feel rushed.
Overall, Indiya delivers on every promise of fine dining. It’s a place where exquisite food, impeccable service, and a stunning setting come together to create a truly memorable experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough and will certainly be returning to explore more of their menu.
I had an incredible cocktail – a twist on a Negroni with chaat flavour – absolutely genius. The lamb chops were beautifully tender, and both the butter chicken and chicken saagwala were just pure pleasure for my taste buds.
To top it all off, the chef, Bhairav Singh, came over to speak with us and explained so many fascinating details about the dishes. Thank you so much for this unforgettable experience – truly outstanding!
Indiya at Cinnamon Life truly impressed me. The food was a perfect blend of authentic Indian flavors and modern creativity. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor — especially the mirchiya and eggplant. The attention to detail in the ingredients and preparation was clear in every bite. Specially I loved the tonic water grapefruit one which was mesmerizing.
The atmosphere was equally impressive — elegant, warm, and thoughtfully designed. The open kitchen and stylish décor added to the overall experience, creating a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made the afternoon even more enjoyable. Mr. Derik was really helpful.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy fine Indian cuisine in a stunning setting. Can’t wait to come back!
Amazing atmosphere facing the colombo ..
This was one of those place where you would find exceptional staff.
Asela was helping us so well. And he did an amazing and friendly job . Thank you Asela.
I would give 10/10 for the overall experience .
Our server was Maxi. At first we were going to order what we wanted but when Maxi offered to recommend dishes according to our taste, we were not disappointed and were really happy and glad we ordered dishes we wouldn’t have thought of. He was attentive, polite but also knew when to leave us in privacy also – amazing service from him.
The food was delicious and the interior decor is stunning. There is nothing to not like about this place. What a great find for an unplanned spontaneous visit!
Although we arrived quite late (22:00) we we‘re welcomed and led to the „romantic corner“.
An amazing view; even better service and possibly the best indian / sri lankan food I‘ve had so far.
The chef even took his time to explain vegan options to me.
10/10 experience would def recommend!
