We received a gift certificate at Christmas for a meal here at this restaurant. It is located hardly in a neighborhood setting. There is paid parking across the street at three dollars per hour. Later on we heard the server mentioned to other guests that you can park on the street, but you have to be careful about being towed. It is a cute,
cabin-looking restaurant. we received a nice greeting and were escorted to the wine cabin. Interesting design where we were located as a nice private intimate area. Alexandra was a server and zoo was delightful during our meal. We had several people had sent to us, and they were all very professional and welcoming. It is a small menu, which is great because I am often leery of menus with large numbers of entrées. They can’t possibly recruit any of them fresh. we tried the mushroom soup which was delicious. And filling. We also tried the Parmesan beignets turned out to be pears, deep-fried and dough. They were delicious but between the two appetizers, we are pretty full. I got the pork chop, which was well done with great accompanying vegetables. My wife got the shirt which turned out to be a bland, tasteless entrée. The shirt was just basically steamed and broiled with no flavoring. What dessert we got the chocolate torte. There is a beer wine menu, but not a full bar. It was a pleasant evening in a delightful setting. This would be perfect for adults, but not kids.

Indigenous is a Sarasota staple for a reason—their commitment to sustainable seafood and seasonal ingredients is impressive. Started with the Parmesan beignets, which were easily the highlight of the night; I could have eaten a dozen. The black garlic Caesar was good, though it lacked that traditional anchovy punch I was expecting.
For mains, the arctic char and halibut were both very well-executed and fresh, though they didn’t quite reach that “lick the bowl clean” level of flavor. The atmosphere on the patio is wonderful and very quaint, though the service was a bit spotty during our visit, as the staff seemed a little distracted. Overall, a lovely spot for high-quality seafood, even if the service didn’t quite match the caliber of the food this time. Will definitely be back and recommend checking it out.

While seafood is chefs specialty, the burger with a side of his house-made pickled vegetables is exceptional! The pickles were so good they were gone too soon and my request for a few more was granted. The whole place has the feel of an old Florida cottage but if you can sit in the bar – it’s choice. Small, intimate and add the great service…there are no losers.

My wife and I did a date night here and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was great and the food was top notch. The atmosphere is unique, the restaurant is in a converted house, so it has a fun charm about it. The menu is very limited, but that’s a good thing in my opinion. Instead of having 50 – 100 mediocre things, they have like 15 perfect things. Some picky eaters might have trouble finding something, but if you are adventurous and willing to try new things, you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely phenomenal. This experience is truly 5 star from start to finish. The quality of the food is outstanding and all of the dishes are so unique. The mushroom bisque was exceptional, but you really cannot go wrong with anything. Staff were kind, attentive, & knowledgeable. Very glad we made a stop here while in the area & highly recommend to anyone looking for an incredible meal.

This is my wife and I first time experiencing indigenous. I don’t even know where to begin. It was without a doubt, the best meal by far we’ve ever had in Sarasota and possibly the state of Florida. Every single thing we tasted was amazing. We ordered for to five apps and both got the grass fed burgers, which is why we initially came in the first place. We finished with the cheesecake with pickled blueberries And oh my God. We were both extremely upset that we found this place on our last night here. We would’ve eaten here every night. I do have to say I have a very good pallet so it might not be for everyone. But the flavors and combinations were unlike anything I’ve ever had in Florida. We will be back 100% thank you again to the staff as well. We had Bex As our bartender/server and she was great very attentive and even chatted with us when she wasn’t super busy, which we appreciated. If I could give higher than five stars I would. Thank you.

One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Restaurant is in a cute historic home. Food was unique and tasted amazing. We had a pear parmesan beneigh, seared tuna, pork chop, roasted potatoes and caramel ice cream (with crispy sweet potatoes on top). Apparently Bobby Flay eats here. So good. Highly recommend.
