New to Scarborough and first time visiting after reading great reviews…..and now I can see why it’s so popular! It was Friday night and very busy.
The staff were kind and welcoming, and the food was excellent…. full of flavour and beautifully aromatic spices. I could really taste chilli and gorgeous cardamom. I was especially pleased that they cater for vegans too, which was very much appreciated. Takeaway packaging was environmentally friendly too.
I’ll definitely be making this my number one choice for authentic Asian cuisine.

We had dinner here, brought by a friend, and I must say the food was really well done — we loved it! We started with onion bhaji, samosas, and poppadoms, which were all delicious.
For mains, we each had different curries, and all of us enjoyed our dishes. Our friend brought alcohol from outside, and we were charged a corkage fee, which was absolutely fine.
Overall, it was a satisfying meal. The service was good, and the staff took great care of us. Highly recommended if you’re craving a good curry!

The gentleman who took our order seemed a bit nervous, not sure why, but the service was fine overall. The food was good—served fresh, not very spicy, and definitely more suited to English taste. It was delicious and we genuinely enjoyed it.
The Hindi music in the background really added charm, especially with the rainy weather outside. That said, the flavours and style felt more like a Bangladeshi restaurant than a traditional Indian one

To start with, they don’t serve alcohol, which wasn’t a huge issue but we didn’t get warned about this. There’s a one stop down the road and they don’t mind you bringing your own. Anyway, the food was 10/10. Really lovely, fantastic flavours and really nice portion sizes for the price too. I tried new things, 100% recommend the Chicken Chaat. If you like spice, it is really lovely here. Will definitely revisit. No complaints from me and my friends. Service was excellent, food served piping hot, really friendly atmosphere.

I wish I could give it a lower rating. My and my partner ordered this on Friday the 23rd Jan 2026 as a delivery. Ordered at about 17:15 (they opened at 17:00) and it arrived at 17:45. That was the first red flag. How can FRESH FOOD be cooked and delivered that quickly. The chicken was extremely dry, second red flag. We are about half each before we started to feel slightly off. Within 30minutes we both had agonising stomach cramps and started to projectile vomit throughout the whole night. Just to add we were both staying in Scarborough in a premier inn (there was only one bathroom). It was a night from horror, except it’s lasted for about three days!! Not only were we both so ill, we then had to pay for another night in the premier inn which costed us about 50 quid as this was supposed to be our last night, we had to delay travelling and we had plans the next day. Altogether the food poisoning that Indian taj gave us costed us about £100 (the price of the food, the hotel booking and the next day of plans cancellation). A sorry does not cut it with this, this has been the worse that me and my partner have ever been ill. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Lovely Indian restaurant, an exceptionally clean and well presented premises. The owner invited us into the kitchens to view how they prepare food, I was very impressed with the whole experience. I would highly recommend the Taj, Falsgrave, Scarborough the food is 5*****.

We have been visiting for Scarborough for over 30 years. We thought we would give this Indian a try. I had Lamb Pasanda. At fist I thought they had brought me chicken it was that white. The Lamb was like old boots. My husband had Chicken Tikka. It was so dry he left it. We definitely won’t be visiting again. The waiter asked if there was a problem and offered us extra poppadoms and pickles. Refused and paid in full, but definitely wont be visiting any time soon.

so firstly they don’t sell alcohol which isn’t made plan on the Web site.
we ordered a chuukny tray, half way threw eating they where ask us for our mains order
even when I stated I was still eating they just asked again. this really spoilt my night. I felt rushed and ignored.
got my order the lamb was cooked lovely but onions where so hard.
just didn’t enjoy my visit at all. think there are better places to go.

I don’t want to tell everyone how amazing this place is because I’m sure you all know anyway!! Our takeaway tonight was cooked to perfection, so fresh and the flavours were amazing, not to mention the service too. Such lovely guys and always friendly
