We had the veggie samosa, chili gobi, chicken vindaloo, lamb madras, chicken Clay pot and rice. The veggie samosa was nothing special but was good tasting and crispy but wasn’t very warm. The chicken vindaloo was one-dimensional, basically just spicy hot without much else going on. The chicken Clay pot was very tasty, with deep rich flavors accented by curry leaf. The lamb madras was a standout, the same sauce as the chicken Clay pot with tender flavorful lamb. The chili gobi (fried cauliflower in sauce) was a hit with our crew, none of us had had it before but we all really liked it. It looks like sweet and sour pork, but has a spicy Indian flavor and a well executed crunchiness.

We went early on a cold winter night and the restaurant was cold. The staff said they were going to turn up the heat but it was still cold by the time we were done. I have a lot if empathy for the owners, It’s an old building with big single pane glass windows and probably very expensive to keep warm. Maybe it’s best to order out during the cold months.

I just want to show some support here. I’ve had great food and consistently good experiences, and it’s obvious the team really cares. No place is perfect all the time, but this one is absolutely worth visiting. Busy places sometimes have small slip-ups — that usually means people actually want to be there. And people come here because the food is good. Growth and improvement are part of hospitality, and that spirit is very much present here.

Indian Clay pot is my favorite Indian food in the city. They have an amazing menu with a gargantuan span of spectacular and flavorful options. I have not had a dish here that I have not loved and every friend I have shared food with here has felt the same.

The flavors here rich and deep. They have a variety of spice levels for food and many kinds of naan to choose from. I usually start with one of their varieties of samosa but they have lots of appetizer options. The herb paneer and mushroom masala was great but tried a bite of my friends lamb tikka masala and honestly it was the best dish at the table. I am eager to try more dishes.

I will continue to come back and also when I ordered for delivery in the past, the food was still great. I highly recommend this place and hope you love it as much as I have.

This is a great gem of an Indian restaurant in Chicago and surprisngly its not located in Rogers Park or off Devon Ave!

Nestled in the Ravenswood neighborhood, this restaurant serves up authentic Indian cuisine and also a bit of Indian-Asian fusion. The chicken and lamb biryani over here is a must have and one of my favorite Biryanis in the Chicagoland area. Get it regular spicy if you’re not a wuss! Its the best way to enjoy it and not really that spicy.

One of my other favorites here is the Chicken Madras which seems similar to a Butter Chicken visually but what makes it special is the addition of coconut cream which adds a very subtle coconut taste to this beautiful aromatic, bright and saucy chicken dish.

The portions here are great. We were 3 people and 2 dishes were more than enough but definitely make sure to order plenty of garlic naan for the saucy dishes!

The interior of the restaurant is quaint, cozy and has warm inviting colors and Indian decor. The service here is very good as well.

Overall you MUST try this restaurant. Theres a reason why when you walk in you’ll see tens of different orders lined up on tables ready to be picked up! People love this place!

Food tastes great, service is really nice, but the portion sizes are too small for the price they charge. Mango lassi is delicious and the samosas with the sause are one of my favourites, having the right amount of spicy and sour. Inside it is cleand and newly remodeled.
Would recommend this place.

Disappointing Experience Due to Poor Management

I had a very unpleasant experience at this Indian restaurant, mainly because of the manager’s arrogant and dismissive behavior. Instead of welcoming guests, the manager came across as rude and uninterested in addressing concerns.

There was no proper communication about the wait time. We were left standing without any clear idea of how long it would take to get a table, which is extremely frustrating, especially when you’re hungry and expecting basic courtesy.

What made it worse is that they do not accept pre-reservations over the phone, yet they also fail to manage walk-in guests efficiently. This lack of organization shows poor guest service and respect for customers’ time.

Good food alone cannot make up for bad service and poor attitude. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place unless management seriously improves their customer service and communication.

More importantly left uneaten because the manager doesn’t want to serve us since we asked him how long would it take to get a table

Indian Clay Pot is UNREAL. I’ve had a wide variety of their vegetarian options, since everything I’ve had has been delicious. They really keep me coming back for more! The paneer curry, daal, chana masala, and samosas are among my faves. The naan is usually pretty good, but I have ordered it for delivery and had it come a bit dry. Despite the texture, the naan is a great way to carry the flavors, textures, and delicious spices to your mouth. The onion naan is pretty sweet, while the garlic one is pretty neutral. The rice is also great and saves well – I usually get a meal or two with rice and naan and it lasts like 3 meals for me. I usually get it delivery, which is organized and really remarkably fresh. I’ve also eaten in, which was lovely! The food came out as it was ready, which is a great perk. Ive eaten a lot of Indian food and this is my fave spot in chicago. Check it out – you won’t regret it.
