This is the best Indian food I’ve ever had. When you ask for it spicy, they actually deliver — the medium has a kick, and the spicy takes it all the way. I’ve had naan that’s burnt on the bottom before, but not here — it was cooked to perfection.
The Shrimp Chili appetizer is excellent. I ordered the chicken masala (yummm!), and we also tried the Aloo Gobi, which was amazing. I can’t wait to go back!

Visited here for the first time in August 2025 and had a solid first experience. Great Indian food all around. Atmosphere left a bit to be desired with the distracting TV playing music videos, and the servers were more attentive to the delivery orders than those of us in the restaurant. But otherwise, no complaints on the food!

This is my second time ordering. The first time I ordered, they didn’t appropriately package the rice to make sure it was the correct portion. The second time, the Korma had so many pieces of ginger that was not appropriately chopped made it very difficult to enjoy. The Carrot Cheese Cake is $6 and they gave me a slither of a slice not appropriate at all for the price. In this economy it is important for people to ensure they are getting their money’s worth. Two times too many on messed up orders, so I won’t be ordering again. It is ashame because the food is good, they don’t have attention to detail which is very important for delivery.

I absolutely love the tikka masala and korma here! The creamy and flavorful sauces are perfect, and they pair so well with the freshly baked naan—soft, warm, and just right. The samosa chat surprised me, it’s so good. The cauliflower dish is a standout too, bursting with flavor and spice. Every dish feels fresh and carefully made. The portions are generous, the service is warm and attentive, and the overall dining experience is just fantastic.

The food is really good here at Indian Char House. I went once before a while back and got my food to go. This time I was able to grab a quick lunch and sit down at the restaurant (February 2025). The consistency is still there. The flavor of the Chicken Tikka Masala was perfect. The staff is very friendly as well as the owners. I recommend this place!

I would give 6 stars if I could. I’ve been a regular customer for over a year now, and they never disappoint. The lamb mains/currys are delicious (particularly recommend their butter and saag options), and so is the biryani. They also have halal options, which is great. The service is impeccable and pretty fast, and, finally they have a loyalty program for people ordering through their website. Highly recommend!

I LOVE IT HERE!!!! Food is FRESH to order and the wait time is WELL WORTH IT!!! Delicious food!! I ordered the fish and vegetable biryani. I went back 2 days later and got the tandoori chicken… ABSOLUTELY FRESH AND DELIGHTFUL!!! Service was with a smile and the staff were EXTREMELY welcoming and grateful for the patronage!!! i’m actually On my way there now!!! That’s what GREAT food and service does… it brings one back!! Chefs kiss too the owner and staff!!!!!

This is a cozy restaurant with limited seating but homey atmosphere. The waiters were helpful but limited English. We could seat as long as we liked. The food was served nicely and tasted good. This is a BYOB Restaurant. There is a large selection of food choices of fish, meat, poultry , and vegetarian

A small but cozy restaurant. The bathroom inside the restaurant is very nice and clean. Staff are polite. Biriyani and BBQ items (comes with rice) are highly recommended. Masala tea after food is a must try. I think this is one of the best indian restaurants in University City, Philadelphia.
