Wow… Hands down best Indian food I’ve had in 2 years of traversing the US. Genuinely authentic Punjabi food, absolutely delicious, generous portions, reasonable prices. The owner’s a very nice guy too. My chicken kadhai so was SO good, I stayed overnight nearby so I could breakfast there again the next day (samosa chaat — glorious) and got some takeout (goat curry) to drive away with as well.
The place looks like absolutely nothing – an empty ante-room to a Marathon filling station. Don’t be fooled.

We were traveling from New Orleans towards Chicago when we noticed this place around us during dinner time. We solely chose to go to this place based on its rating plus we wanted something before places close. At first we felt this location quite lonely and secluded and were confused if we were at the right place. Ambience apart, the food was surprisingly so delicious and we were satiated by what we ordered. They even went out of the way and fulfilled our request to eat something that wasn’t on our menu. It is a family run restaurant and the food was the best food we had by far on our New Year’s trip. I would visit this place again if I happen to travel through this route.

I tried calling several times but no answer. I get there and order the lamb curry. 15 min goes by and he tells me they do t have any lamb so I get chicken which he says will only be 5 minutes. Now 30 min have gone by and FINALLY I recieve my order. I’m sure the food is good but when you are on a time constraint the service here sucks!

Posting for clarity! This place used to be in Livingston, it is now in York. There is ANOTHER Indian restaurant at the old location in Livingston that’s not bad (also called Taste of India, but different menu and different style and smaller portions), but if your heart and taste buds belong, as mine do, to the old Taste of India, come to York.
