It was love at first naan! They brought out the garlic naan and a tomato-based dip to start as a free appetizer. This was promptly followed by a delicious chicken vindaloo and stuffed cheesy naan, both of which were super tasty too! Everything we ate was quite delicious, and I would also want to try their lunch buffet next time too. The servers were also quite nice, checking in every now and then – definitely recommend for your next fix of Indian food in Chicago!

Really good food, friendly service and reasonably priced. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and entrees, and all of them were really good. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower from the appetizer section and chicken tika masala. The samosas and dal were great too. Highly recommended.

Very good. Would go back. Feel it should have 4.5 stars, but giving 5.

We had

TANDOORI PESH KUSH – but with 3 types of chicken, including Reshmi chicken, which I liked best.

PAPDI CHAT – not my favorite. We make this at home better.

ALOO TIKKI – Liked a lot. A sweet and savory. Yum. My friends didn’t love it, but I thought it was good

Hyderbadi chicken- SUPER TASTY!

DAL MAKHANI – Ok

KADHAI PANEER – very tasty

OKRA MASALA – Delicious

GARLIC NANN – Outstandingly fluffy!!

PARATA – meh.

Overall, really a good meal.

And the service was great.

As a headache sensitive person, I didn’t like their modern light fixtures with exposed bulbs, but really, that’s just a me thing.

I was craving Indian food. Walked into this place because I seen they had a a lot of reviews. Decided to do the lunch buffet because it had standard pricing considering the location. Flavors are not there at all. I tried a lot of things.

Masala dosa was soggy small and lacked a lot of aloo. Sambar was surprisingly tasty and had some spice too it.

Samosas were very bland and felt like they shoved whole potatoes in there with some peas. Not much flavor to the aloo/ potatoes either.

White rice basmati. Cooked well and the grains were separate.

The veggie dishes overall were okay.

Paneer was 4/10
Channa masala 5/10
Corn methi 6.5/10 – this was actually not bad but a very cheap substitute lol

Chicken tikka was horrendous and there was another chicken dish that was also lacking something. And the fish pieces that were fried didn’t hold flavor and it was cheap white fish probably tilapia.

They brought out tandoori chicken and naan.

Tandoori chicken almost tasted like they added liquid smoke to it? And flavors were not there. The chicken was cooked well though.

Naan was some basic naan.

To end it all I tried the gulab Jamun ice cream…..This sounds amazing right? It was the polar opposite unfortunately. The ice cream had freezer burn and it was sitting out a long time so it was either super frozen or melting.

Couldn’t taste the gulab jamun really. And a lot of cardamom. Huge disappointment.

I wanted to like it all but they seem to have not much care towards their food. Space and environment were great and my waitress was super sweet.

The food was exceptional; we ordered the lamb biryani and the chili noodles, both flavorful and well-spiced with that Indo-Chinese twist. The portions were generous and the lamb was tender. The only downside was the slow service; it took quite a while for our food to come out, even though the restaurant wasn’t packed. Still, the quality of the food made it worth the wait. Would definitely come back, but hopefully with a bit quicker turnaround next time.

I’ve been coming to India House for a while now, ever since my bike courier days when this place was always buzzing with energy. I still haven’t managed to catch the buffet — and it drives me crazy every time, because good buffets are hard to find in Chicago! But honestly, I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants to try amazing Indian cuisine. It’s always such a treat!
