I was excited to try Indian House on Wheels when it first opened, even though I felt the food was overpriced (nearly $27 for chicken tikka masala, rice, and naan). I decided to give them another chance and ordered the lunch special. Unfortunately, the quality was disappointing — the rice was dry, and the garlic naan was cold and crunchy.
But the WORST part: while eating my butter chicken, I found an actual nail in my food. Yes, a metal NAIL you would use in a wall. I immediately called the number listed for the food truck but got no answer. I then called the main India House in Santa Fe, and instead of genuine concern, I felt like they treated me as if I was lying. They asked me to send photos, which I did, but I never received any follow-up or apology.
For both safety and customer service reasons, I cannot recommend this place.

We really like the food — flavorful and well prepared. Since the food is served from the window of a mobile trailer, “service” and “atmosphere” aren’t really applicable concepts. But the food is always ready on time, so you could say the service is good. The atmosphere is what you would expect when you stand around in the parking lot outside the trailer.

The chicken biriyani was incredible. The lamb kabab was tasty but a bit chewy. There was also quite a bit of food, enough for two people.
The projected time estimate for the pick up of the order was off by ten minutes. But no sweat, there is sufficient parking in that lot to wait without being crowded.

Got the Saturday lunch special which came to about 22 dollars with tip. The lamb curry was completely unacceptable, maybe two bites of meat and the rest was bone and cartilage. The butter chicken also had lots of gristle. Never had this issue at the santa fe location. Won’t be going back.
Keep in mind I found the meal so awful this is my first and only Google review.

The fact that I need to order online even when I am standing right there is the most ridiculous thing I ever saw. And I have to pay $2 for the “privilege” of paying online.
The food is subpar, not fresh. Fritters were soggy. Kheer was milk + rice + ton of sugar. Rice was definitely not cooked today.

Indian house on wheels is an awes9me addition to the food in Los Alamos. They have very reasonably priced lunch specials that taste really good. Would highly recommend for Indian food in Los alamos!

Food was ready when I arrived at 5:45.
Had lamb curry medium spice – very good, tender lamb
Also had butter chicken curry – good, tender chicken but I found it too creamy.
Butter Naan was also really big and moist.

Some of the best food in town, no restaurant needed. I’m always impressed with the quality and quantity, though you do need to be patient and order in advance. India House is worth it!
