India Gate – Belfast – Indian

India Gate is a Indian takeaway in County Antrim. Why don’t you try our Sprite or Achari?

We had the two course special deal which was good value in itself, the staff were very pleasant and the restaurant itself has a nice decor, clean and comfortable, but the real star is the food.
We both agreed that this is the nicest Indian meal we have had in recent memory.
We’ll be back again the next time we’re in Belfast.
Highly recommended.

Average Indian-style food.
We ordered Tapas (would not recommend for Indian diners), Chicken Garlic (acceptable), Chicken Makhani (lacked authenticity), and Garlic Coriander Naan, which was soft and well prepared. The order also included a 650 ml beer, along with complimentary dal and papadoms.
While the food cannot be described as fully authentic, the chef made a genuine effort to avoid adding sweetness, which is appreciated. Overall, it was a decent experience for a first visit.
Special appreciation to Mr. Narayan for his professionalism and helpful guidance while placing the order. He was courteous, attentive, and ensured the chef was informed accordingly. The staff were polite and accommodating throughout our visit.
The pleasant background music featuring classic Hindi songs added to the overall dining atmosphere and made the experience more enjoyable.

We went tonight as a group of 5, Inc three children. Lovely meal. I had called earlier in the week and to let them know I also had a voucher. Always a bit nervous when I use these in case there’s an issue. No issue at all. We asked to sit at a specific table, no problem ! Kids meals were huge, food was delicious. Service was quick and attentive. Two really large groups in (so it was noisy) but it did not impact our food or wait times at all. Service with a smile. Would recommend. Great with our kids too. Thank you xx

Absolutely perfect. Loved the food, service, ambience and vibe of the place. Really really delicious food. Finger licking good (quite literally hahha). And great value for money as well. The portion sizes were also good. And service was excellent !! Definitely worth coming. Must visit.

I always call here when in Belfast and it doesn’t disappoint, it was a quite Sunday evening so got a seat straight away, had my usual Rarrah Ghost , pilau rice and paratha all served by attentive polite staff.
Everything was delicious and would highly recommend .

I recently visited India Gate in Belfast and had a mixed experience. The Chicken Makhani was delicious—rich, creamy, and well-balanced in flavor. The naan and laccha paratha were decent, though nothing extraordinary.

However, we also ordered Chicken Tikka and Prawn Biryani, requesting them to be “Indian spicy.” Unfortunately, they went overboard with the spice level, adding an excessive amount of chopped green chilies, which made the dishes overwhelmingly hot and difficult to enjoy. The spice was so intense that it left us with an upset stomach afterward.

While I appreciate authentic Indian flavors and a good spice kick, there needs to be a balance. Instead of just throwing in too many chilies, the heat should be well-integrated with the dish’s flavors.

Service and ambiance were good, but the inconsistency in spice levels affected the overall experience.

Possibly the best Indian food I have ever had in Belfast. Visited based on a friend’s recommendation and it did not disappoint. The chicken curry, chilli chicken and lamb seek kebab as fresh, hot, and delicious, and staff were amazing and the atmosphere was welcoming and service was top-notch. A must-visit!”

Fantastic find. Very family friendly and kids ate all their meal which is always good. Lots of space and not rushed. Great naan breads too.
