This is hands-down my favorite Indian restaurant in town! ❤️ From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and kindness by the sweetest, most welcoming family. The staff is incredible—so attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring.

The food is absolutely phenomenal—every dish bursts with flavor, and you can tell it’s made with love and dedication. This family works so hard to make sure every guest feels cared for and leaves happy. It’s rare to find a place that combines such amazing food with such a kind, open-hearted team.

If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. This little gem deserves all the love and support in the world!

My boyfriend and I have been looking for good Indian cuisine around the area for quite some time now… a friend had recommended India Garden so we decided to give it a try! We ordered take out butter chicken and tikka masala with garlic naan bread and couldn’t be more pleased! The food was delicious! Not to mention the service was excellent, the gal up front was super friendly! She answered all of our questions as it was our first time stopping by. I’ve seen some of the other reviews complaining about their dinner service only being takeout but I think they did a good job. It was very quick (about 15-20 minutes which is normal for takeout) and was packaged up nicely, no complaints there! Not to mention the food was very flavorful and tasted more authentic than other places I’ve tried. Definitely will be coming back for more!

My wife, (who is Indian) and I went to India Garden last weekend to try it out. We got there expecting to dine in for dinner, but it was carry-out only. We dined down the road at Almadina for our first time instead. Tonight, we decided to give India Garden a try and ordered the Mixed Grill dinners. Their webpage (not a website, just a landing page with a menu link – you’ll have to go in and order and wait or call in to order for pickup) claims they’ve won “Best Indian restaurant in Rochester for 8 years in a row”.

Picked it up and went home to eat. I was less than impressed by the mess within the boxes, but presentation isn’t everything. Despite the generous portions, most of that went to waste. The beef kebabs were dried out, as was much of the chicken. Naan was warm but bland. The “green salad” consists of chopped onions and cilantro, the rice was starchy. Not exactly how they paint it on the menu. I agree fully with my wife, who is a wonderful cook, that this was not even close to Indian food. It was like bland Egyptian street food (no offense to Egyptians, but you know the reputation). The chicken was colored reddish, but had no masala or kick to it.

Being new to this area, we had hoped to find great Indian restaurants like the many in Dallas where we came from. We had tried Hyderabad first a few months ago, and they are the ONLY good Indian restaurant here in the area. Based on this experience, I don’t know how India Garden can claim to be number one, especially since it isn’t Indian. The hours for dine-in compared to Almadina and Hyderabad also make me question the legitimacy of that claim. It leans towards discredit for the Rochester Magazine that “voted” them.

There are other Mediterranean/Mid Eastern options like Lumi, who also do a better job with Indian offerings. I highly recommend spending your money on places like Lumi, Hyderabad or Almadina for best bang for your buck, and a dine-in experience virtually anytime. Hyderabad is great as they stay open late all week long, and also on holidays!

I rarely get to experience Indian food and i tend to not eat it ever as i have no access to it. I was able to come to the lunch buffet today and get a massive meal that truly was my entire meal for the day for 16 dollars. This is a great business I will be back you deserve way more business love the food the restaurant.. very good.

This is not real Indian food. The owners are not Indian, they are Bangladeshi. And the food is not authentic. They are masquerading as an Indian place and have the whole town fooled. There’s sugar loaded in everything, every single dish (buffet) was way too sweet. As an Indian myself I am disappointed in the food, calling it Indian does not make it Indian but I’m sure it matches the taste of non-Indian people. I did not see another brown person while I was there. Wouldn’t recommend if you want real Indian food.

Wonderful Indian Buffet – one of the best we have had, and we have been to many in different States. The food was all fresh and delicious, plenty of vegetarian options as well as the meat curries.
Tasty starters, fresh salads and accompaniments, hot fresh naan bread – really couldn’t fault a single dish.
This place may not look much from the outside but it’s on my go-to list for visiting Rochester for sure. Highly recommend.

It felt great to find a halal Indian place in the area. We had lunch buffet. We loved the salads and condiments, especially chana chaat with green chutney. The naans were soft, fresh, and light; my favorite food here. The entrès were okay too, beef curry was the better one out of all, but the butter chicken, though a bit too sweet, was a coffee second. I liked bhindi and aaloo as well.

My son had an anaphylactic reaction after eating the curry. I kindly called to inquire about the ingredients for my son’s allergy testing. The lady on the phone was SO rude. She said “no no no! It’s not allergy. I know allergies it’s not allergy. No!” Then hung up. I wasn’t accusing them of anything being wrong- simply inquiring per my child’s allergists recommendations. The place is also very dirty- and I saw the same lady that works there use the restroom and not wash her hands. She came out right after flushing.

We always make a point to eat here when we are in town (since 2006!). We really like the variety on the lunch buffet. During this visit we couldn’t make it for lunch, so we went for dinner. We were disappointed not to be able to eat in; carry-out or delivery are the evening options. We enjoyed our hot (and spicy), fresh-tasting meals at our hotel. It was so aromatic that I’m sure folks in the lobby as we passed through were envious!

Have loved this place for many years! I’ve never had a substandard meal here. Always great, always fresh, always quality. Being a Midwest boy, I can’t speak to the authenticity, but I can speak to the consistency. Very good. Buffet is a great way to start if unfamiliar with Indian cuisine.
