Laid-back eatery offering tandoori, biryani & other classic Indian fare in warm, homey surroundings.

I thought it was really good! You might not expect it from the outside, but the interior of the restaurant is pretty classy I was there for dinner on a weeknight, and while there were a few takeout/delivery orders that came through, I was the only dine-in customer, and the man who served me was extremely courteous.
I ordered their vegetable malai kofta, plain naan, and Indian tea. I’m pretty sure what I was kadhi kofta instead of malai kofta; the gravy tasted like tangy savoury kadhi rather than creamy malai gravy. I’m not upset about the mistake because this is actually what I would’ve ordered, but I didn’t see it on the paper menu. Anyway, the dish was very flavourful and the medium hot was actually medium hot – no watered down spice level here! Good naan, soft and charred in the right places. The food was reasonably priced and portioned generously. Cumin rice was included with the entree.
The Indian tea (chai) was strong, and I felt like the tea itself was actually of good quality, but it was served sweetened and it was too sweet for me. I prefer chai unsweetened but don’t mind some tasteful sweetness, but theirs was really strong. It was also pretty small, almost cutting chai size, and didn’t come out until I was almost done eating. The tea wasn’t expensive, but not so inexpensive that I was expecting it to be so small.
Definitely would visit again. The hours are a little weird – they open at 2:30 pm, but close at 1:30 or 2:30 am most nights. It would be nice if they were open at normal lunch time, but on the bright side, they’re open during the mid-afternoon window when most restaurants close between lunch and dinner, they stay open late when most everything else still open is fast food.

I ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, Paneer Naan, and a Mango Lassi, everything was just perfect. The curry was super flavorful and creamy, the naan was soft and delicious, and the mango lassi was refreshing and tasty.
The staff were really friendly and the whole vibe of the place was nice and welcoming. If you love Indian food (or even if you’re trying it for the first time), you have to come here! Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in Bloomington, IN.

Man, this is so disappointing. This was, hands-down, my favorite Indian restaurant. That is until about 2-3 months ago. I looked forward to my weekly (sometimes 2x) extra hot chicken curry and garlic naan. I only ended up here after trying the others in town and being disappointed. Once I had my first order from India Garden, I was loyal for life. Cut to 3 months ago. I order 2 orders of chicken curry, 1 extra hot (I like to suffer) and one medium, because my brother prefers less heat. They literally split the one order of medium between 2 containers, no label. I have received less than half of the regular portion in the last 6 orders. I have contacted the restaurant and received horrible service, basically telling me to “kick rocks”. Their garlic naan used to be perfect. Every time. This last order? I got 4 garlic crackers. Dry and brittle and bland. The flavors and heat levels have been wildly inconsistent. Their robbing their customers on portions. And the worst of it all is, if you try to have anything done about it, you’re abused and ignored. I’ll be reporting this store to the BBB, if that even counts for anything anymore. I advise you to order elsewhere. If you choose to order here, please call and demand they address any issues you have with your order. Remember, if you pay with a card, and the vendor does not provide the product as promised, you can call and dispute the charge with your bank/ cc company. Please stop paying for shitty food and shitty business practices.

Quite disappointing – from start to finish. I’d eaten here before – nothing extraordinary but decent when it was fresh. This time I placed an online order and decided to use the restaurant’s website instead of Doordash – big mistake! I ordered at 6:48 and received a delivery time estimate of 7:18. I live under 15 minutes away and since I’m 99% certain they keep a tray of butter chicken hot at all times, I figured the estimate was ambitious but doable. I click the link to pull up the tracker and discovered the only way to do that is download some weird app I’d never heard of. No thanks. When 7:30 rolled around, I was about to call the restaurant when I received a text that my order was “on the way”. Forty-five minutes to make a single order of butter chicken and garlic naan??? Ok, well now I just have another 10-12 minutes to wait. Wrong! It takes another half hour!! I did try to call the restaurant – and the person answers “Hello?” – like it’s their personal phone. The English is so limited they eventually give up and hang up on me. About that time the food arrives so I don’t try again. Not surprisingly, the whole shebang was room temperature, the “mild” entree was so spicy I had to add cream, the naan was tough, and the rice container was only half full. All for the unfathomable price of $30. Needless to say, I won’t be doing that again.

More than required cooked breads with 1 day old wheat flour. Almost all the curries have same gravy. Vegetarian try at their own risk as I find bone piece in Veg curry.

I recently ordered Butter Chicken and Butter Naan, and it was absolutely delicious! The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and full of flavor — perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. The butter naan was soft, warm, and went so well with the curry. The portion size was generous, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again. Highly recommend it to anyone craving real Indian flavors

Picked up a to-go order of saag paneer, garlic naan, and a mango lassi for just over $20. It fed two people. We agreed the saag was actually spicy as requested, and was delicious. I can’t believe I haven’t eaten here as often as Amrit or Taste, but it’ll be in the rotation more often.

I ordered my food online through their website, and this was hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant. I called to ask what time I’d be getting my order, and the first two times I was literally hung up on while trying to figure out what was going on with my food. One guy told me to come pick it up, even though I already paid for delivery. When I explained that, he just hung up on me.
I called back a third time, hoping to talk to someone more professional since the first person clearly couldn’t handle a basic conversation. Big mistake. The second guy said they were busy—which I understand—but then started yelling at me, cutting me off, and being extremely rude for no reason.
I waited over an hour, past dinner time, just to be hung up on twice and then yelled at. At that point it wasn’t even worth it, so I canceled my order. I get that food service can be stressful, but that doesn’t excuse this level of disrespect. Completely unacceptable experience.
I highly do not recommend this place.

We went for a buffet around 1:00 on a Saturday, where we expect fresh cooked food for that day. But annoyingly, most of the buffet menu items are not fresh. A few of the curry items are dry, and surely they are from the previous day. The pakore was hot but is too fried. Tandoori chicken is too dry and tasteless. One had to be a detective ️♂️ to find paneer pieces in paneer Tikka masala. We just tried the food and decided to go to another restaurant.
This is not my first experience. A few months ago, we ordered takeout for around 7-8 biryanis, and we asked them to make it spicy. To our surprise, there is no flavor, and what we found is bell peppers and lumps of paprika.

When I arrived with my roommate we were sat at a table that was unfinished and was served a bit later than usual. However, after the longer than usual wait for the meal we were served and were VERY happy with the food. Honestly, the food over rode the negative customer service experience. Definitely try this place out at least once and try the dry cuisines first instead of the curries.
