Immigrant Food offers an ambitious, fun menu that celebrates immigrant street food in a cozy, intimate setting. The restaurant seamlessly combines Immigrant Food’s traditional casual fusion lunch menu and switches to an “approachable chic” gastronomic experience in the evening with an immigrant-inspired cocktail menu and an eclectic wine list that highlights emerging international regions.

Had a great time grabbing brunch on Saturday. Came right on the edge of changing services so had to put in an order quick, and the food was served super fast. Everything was delicious. Got the Short rib poutine, chicken sandwich, and Cuban sandwich. Only thing with the poutine is that it’s pretty salty so better to be shared than eaten alone. The seasonal drinks I wasn’t as much of a fan of.

Immigrant Food is a great spot for brunch. The interior is cozy and welcoming without feeling cramped, and the menu really stands out. They use interesting flavor combinations you don’t see everywhere, with African spices that add depth and warmth without being overpowering. Everything felt thoughtful and well-balanced. A refreshing change from the usual brunch options.

First time at the restaurant- the food was excellent and great portion sizes. I went for lunch on a Tuesday it was very busy but there no wait for a table. I will definitely go back and next visit he Planet World museum.

The food was good, the fries were perfectly crispy. The Cuban sandwich was supposed to have pineapple pickles but there was none on the sandwich we got which was disappointing.

I went for lunch hoping for gumbo, but the West African Gumbo just isn’t a gumbo. It’s a salad with a sort of roux sauce up top.
I feel tricked into ordering something I did not want. Gumbo is a soup dish with rice, this is a salad with rice. It was a cold day and I ordered gumbo for that reason, unfortunately I got a salad bowl.
Flavor was fine, but please be honest about what you’re serving. Especially if your whole brand is connecting people to culinary contributions from immigrant communities. You’re misrepresenting the incredibly rich culture behind gumbo. This is a West African Salad Bowl, and that’s okay. But, call it that!

The food was tremendous. We had lamb skewers, Thai salad, Asian cauliflower, and mushroom soup. Everything was tremendous and I highly recommend anything we ate. We left a little hungry but would go back again if we have the opportunity.

The place, the atmosphere- just wow! We had a nice quiet evening in the heart of Washington DC. We were there for a special occasion it was our anniversary. Our server Oscar – he was so friendly and we had a very interesting chat with him from time to time . We talked about Colombia , India , football , food and so many things. The place is beautiful with a large selection of vegetarian and vegan options.
I’m a vegetarian so it’s a plus for me!
The owner of the restaurant is such a good man, always so cheerful and ready to listen. They bought a champagne for us as it was a special occasion. Thank you so much for your kindness. We love the message the restaurant sends and it’s something I feel our world needs right now more than ever.
10/10 will return again .

Terrific atmosphere. The menu has a variety of options which made it hard to choose! I really liked the flavors of the Filipino Fried Chicken I ordered, though the meat itself was a bit tough. Loved the mint limonana. The servers were friendly. I liked this place and would recommend it.

I had been planning to go to Planet Word and then Immigrant food for like a month now
The food here blew me away! I went right around opening, after going to the museum, and the staff was so attentive! I was eating alone and felt like the waiter had come back to check on me just the right amount of times.
I was planning on getting a drink and a main but they were having restaurant week so I got an appetizer, main, and cookies for that. I also got a drink. For restaurant week I got gazpacho, the heritage bowl, and cookies. For the drink I got a pineapple matcha.
ALL OF THESE WERE AMAZING!!! I HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest going here if you are in the area… Honestly, even if you aren’t and can come, I could recommend this place!
