Nicely curated restaurant in need of upgrading the food. The octopus was chewy and not very fresh. The rice balls had too much cheese and were bland. The eggplant appetizer was not very good and I couldn’t tell if it was the sauce or the eggplant that gave it a bad taste. The wine list is expensive but they offered a very nice Barolo. And the service was fantastic.

Back in October I lost my job, it also fell on the day my wife and I got married. We pressed through with our plans to celebrate at Il Poggiolo and we were not disappointed. Far from.
Everything was perfect. And I can’t say more good things about the service we received.
Thank you for making this night so special, I start my new job next and I think we know where we are going to celebrate. Never change.

Quaint Italian Restaurant in Historic Hinsdale. The service was wonderful. My water glass never got empty. Our server Carlos gave us great recommendations on the pasta. The food was delicious!!! The Aranchini AMAZING. Their lemon cream sauce on the pasta…to die for.

Honestly, had higher expectations. The atmosphere is superb. The service was good, Kyle our bartender was fantastic. However the food lacked flavor, was expecting more but taste came up short.

Food. Ambiance. Service. The trifecta of a restaurant. The basic kids spaghetti made the adults want to eat it. Bruschetta had a perfectly toasted piece of bread, spread of cheese, with balsamic glaze atop delicately chopped tomatoes. Refreshing! The mocktail was customized, with pineapple juice, couldn’t get enough. Lobster ravioli with alfredo sauce as a sub, unreal. The salmon was a little dry but the farro exploded with flavor. Wrapped up with an apple bread pudding with silky smooth vanilla gelato and we left very happy. The staff was very kind and accommodating, made everything even better. Definitely can’t wait to go back to this restaurant!

Excellent food, incredible staff (they even gave us a free dessert since it was our first time there), and unique atmosphere. The tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had. The octopus appetizer was great.

Date night Friday for me and wife at Il Poggiolo. Great dining atmosphere with balcony and good energy all around. I had rigatoni with sausage and parmesan and el pollo rosto – both were excellent. The chicken was served with sautéed spinach and roasted potatoes. The rigatoni couldn’t have been better, gravy with sausage was perfect.
We ordered the bread serving, which was solid. Garlic bread was good, maybe slightly over toasted, but still enjoyable. I actually like bread being an appetizer; eliminates a lot of waste and I think restaurants that serve it as a billable appetizer put more effort into it, generally resulting in better quality.
Service was timely and friendly, seated immediately at our reservation time. Recommend for a date night or just regular, every day meal.

We had 6:30 reservations on a Saturday night a couple weeks ago. We got there 5 minutes early and we’re seated immediately. As we looked at the menu we had a hard time narrowing our choices down two two or three choices for each of us. We just figured what we did not choose we would get the next time. Really an outstanding menu. I ordered an old fashioned and my wife ordered a glass of wine. This was about 6:40. After 25 minutes We flag down the hostess to get somebody because we had not received our drinks. The server came by and told us they would be ready soon. After another 15 minutes we still have not received our drinks so we asked to speak to the manager. The whole time we were sitting there wondering if we should just leave. It kind of ruined the night and my wife and I said a couple of times okay let’s just reset and try to have a good time. As we were speaking to the manager the cocktails came and we decided to stay for dinner. It was a 45 to 50 minutes after we had placed our order for the drinks. I really felt sorry for the server and the manager but they said there was only one bartender and he is super backed up. It had been that way for 3 or 4 weeks and the owner would not let them hire another bartender . I always see bartenders working their butts off and being super busy and think well at the end of the night they’ll be happy from all the tips have made. Well when the customer has to wait 45 minutes for a drink that is not a good business model. We would have had a second round with dinner that they missed out on. I’m pretty sure the markup on alcohol is really high and not having enough employees to meet demand is just ridiculous. We go out with two other couples once a month and somebody picks a restaurant, this is one restaurant I was going to pick and I would have been embarrassed if we come there with a group and had this kind of service. Just want to reiterate it is not the employees or managers fault. Excuse the long-winded rant but we will be staying away, maybe come back for some of the dishes that looks so good in a couple of months hoping that the situation has been straightened out.

Recently ordered the tagliatelle bolognese from Il Poggiolo. It kept its heat and tasted delicious out of a bowl from home. The food was ready for pickup fast (25 min from time of order), and it was very convenient to pick up from the hostess.
