The Burzotta family set up one of the first authentically run Italian Restaurants in Southend-On-Sea Essex. The recipes of the old country, the fresh ingredients, the simplicity of Italian cooking, all deliciously accompanied with fine wines, representative of the Italian regions, brought to the town centre of Southend, the traditions of Italian heritage & culinary cuisine. As the restaurant grew in popularity, relatives came to visit, with some remaining. Il Pescatore restaurant’s lifespan now reaches close to 30 years of trading, it can proudly profess to be the original and one of the longest running family establishments in the town.
Family-run restaurant with white tablecloths serving homely Italian antipasti, calzone and steak.

Yet to have a bad meal!
Love this little hidden gem!
They also have allergen information available online so it was very easy to choose what to eat even though I can’t have soya.
Between us we had the calamari and buratta starters, with a veal and spaghetti dish for our mains. The calamari was well seasoned but the buratta didn’t have much flavour and was had an odd texture. Our mains had good flavour and portion.
We had a long wait between being seating and taking our order, and finally settling the bill – ultimately deciding to pay at the counter. This was odd given we were one of two couples dining at the time.
Amazing place, will absolutely go again.
The highlight of the evening was the lobster pasta. The portion was generous, with lots of lobster meat – easily the best I’ve had in a very long time. We were seated at a charming table in the corner, with a view of the chef preparing pizzas fresh, which we loved too!
We can’t wait to return soon!
My go to restaurant for the last 30 years or so, my last visit on Saturday was for a quick pre cinema pizza and drink and although busy and not booked I got a table within minutes I mentioned to the waitress that I was in a bit of a rush and my order was dealt with in good time.
Still the best pizza in town. Lovely attentive staff and as always a pleasure to be there!
