Watching the pasta being made rendered the whole dining experience so much more enjoyable! The pasta was fresh and great overall, even though the sauces weren’t exactly what I wanted. Would recommend this place if you’re dining in at Eataly.

5 stars.
After an 18-hour day, I stopped into Eataly and saw that they had a prix fixe menu! The two dishes were amazing but I waited about 25 minutes for my pasta. I wasn’t frustrated but a bit concerned that like, maybe the hand rolled gnocchi’s are what’s taking longer than normal. When Kat came around and asked how my dish was, I expressed that I never received it.
What could have been a frustrating night became the opposite because of Katherine, my server. She noticed the delay, checked in at the right moments, and proactively offered a complimentary glass of her favorite wine and a dessert. That simple, thoughtful move—paired with her precision, attentiveness, and genuinely hard-working attitude—turned my bad day into a great one. The wine was outstanding, the dessert was spot-on, and the pasta was worth the wait.
Oh side note as someone how goes to the dog park in Madison garden and goes to eataly a lot more than they should is this.
Reasons to visit Eataly: consistently fresh, well-executed Italian dishes; a deep, well-curated wine list; the energy of the market-style setting; and staff who know the menu and care about hospitality. Katherine exemplifies that standard. Best customer service I’ve experienced at Eataly—detail-oriented, friendly, fast on recovery, and sincerely invested in her guests.
But hey, it’s Italian food right? It’s impossible not to like.

Lovely environment. Staff are friendly and helpful. I feel like I ordered wrong tho. I had the Fritto Di Gamberi E Zucchine. Crispy fried shrimp, fried zucchini, lemon aioli. I found it to be very bland. Needed seasoning. Couldn’t taste the lemon in the aioli.

I freely admit this is not a fair rating due to our timing, but it is what it is. We split the Agnolotti del Plin El Sugo D’Arrosto and an order of Focacia Bianca. Both were very good. Our server Ahmed was wonderful and attentive. Seating was comfortable at the bar with a good view of the pasta making table. Which brings us to the rating. No pasta.making while we were there. A bit of clean up as we were sitting down. Prepping for pasta making after we were finished and had walked around a bit. But no action as we enjoyed our meal. That left our entertainment to some sort of dispute between staff playing out in front of us. We could not hear anything, and no idea what the dispute was about, but you could tell there were some issues.

II Pastaio is a total experience. You can be part of a pasta making class or experience a wonderful meal. Located in the middle of Eataly NYC Flatiron, you are front and center surrounding yourself with retail food shops, cafes & sweets, restaurants wines and quick bites. It is a foodie destination. No trip to NYC is complete with spending an afternoon the very best in Italian cuisine.
The wine list is top tier. Larry was our server for the afternoon. He excel in every capacity offering us fabulous parings for our food selections. Don’t be afraid to decide on an unknown selection. Begin with small bites to share. I recommend the Bocconcini, the Shaved Zucchini and the Insalata di Quinoa. I must return for the rainbow of carrots made with a pistachio pesto. I throughly enjoyed the Spaghettoni ( a squid ink spaghetti, with shrimps) . The Cappellacci was exceptional. A must try. You will not be disappointed

This is a very cool concept. You eat your meal in the middle of the Italian market. It’s a bit overpriced but all the pasta is made in front of you. The food is really good I had the Tagliatelle which was amazing. My wife had the Tonnarelli which also enjoyed. The kids were able to get spaghetti with red sauce. Be aware there is a bit of language barrier when ordering so know what you want to make your life easier. I also had a cold Peroni which hit the spot.

Eataly never disappoints.
This place is rather expensive. But what is not expensive in NYC.
Food is great. If you are lucky, they prepare it just in front of you.
Staff: Some of them are really friendly, some seem not to care too much.
