While this has been our grandparents’ favorite Italian restaurant for over 20 years, this was my first time here. The food exceeded all expectations! I had a complimentary fied zucchini starter, truffle ravioli, pappardelle with spicy pork ragu topped with mascarpone and zabaglione with red fruit. Everything was so delicious and flavorful. The service was great, and the grandma’s birthday was such a success. Thank you!
P.S. On a Saturday night, it seemed like a reservation is an absolute must. We saw a loooong line leaving the restaurant around 7.30pm.

We almost dined here on February 14, 2026 for Valentine’s Day and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.

We were required to order a fixed 5-course meal priced at $125 per person (plus tax and tip). While we understand that many restaurants offer special prix-fixe menus for Valentine’s Day, this was never clearly communicated to us in advance. It felt less like a special offering and more like a way to justify raising prices, especially since the restaurant is BYOB.

I politely asked if there was an alternative menu available, but the waitress refused and responded in a condescending manner, saying, “We don’t have such a menu and the manager would say the same thing.” The interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional.

We had a 9:30 P.M. reservation, and the manager assured us it would be fine even though the restaurant closes at 10:30 P.M. However, with a 5-course meal starting that late, the pacing felt uncomfortable and rushed. The overall experience left us feeling misled and pressured.

Given the many 5-star Google reviews and proudly displayed plaques, we expected a much more thoughtful and customer-focused experience. Instead, the evening felt transactional and disappointing. Looking around the room, many other diners appeared equally frustrated.

Unfortunately, this was not the Valentine’s celebration we had hoped for.

Delightful BYOB restaurant that has that old world Italian feel. It’s a smaller restaurant with 2 different sides and somewhat dimly lit. The food is absolutely outstanding with great service.

Not pictured are the little appetizers you get per person which I could eat as a meal itself if it was a larger portion. It’s white beans over a little piece of bread with thinly sliced eggplant with garlic and olive oil – it’s absolutely to die for! It hasn’t changed in years and remains to be the most delicious appetizer you can get with your meal just for dining with them.

Their veal and chicken dishes are pounded thin and are infused with flavor. The soft shell crab francaise was an appetizer special and has a sauce you could soak up with the bread provided – absolutely divine. Great for a table of 4 to split one. The shrimp appetizer with white beans was also delicious, nothing was left!

Every entree came out hot and delicious. Our server was fantastic and gave great recommendations.

The real star of the restaurant is the dessert man – he always ends his spiel with “and there’s always room for dessert!” – we had indulged in the warm apple tart and the NY cheesecake (my mom and brother said it was one of the best they’ve had in a while, being creamy and just the right sweetness). The apple tart came with a cinnamon sugar ice cream and was great to share for 2 people.

Il Mondo Vecchio is 5/5 – highly recommend (and make sure you call ahead and make a reservation).

Cute decor with incredible food! All the staff is incredible in their hospitality and polite. They have the most amazing porcini mushroom ravioli!! I often stop by to pick it up to go when I happen to be in the area. It’s a bit pricey at $45 for a dinner portion, but I don’t mind paying a premium for good quality fresh ingredients.

Incredible food and service. I am not from New Jersey and didn’t realize that you could bring your own wine which was very nice as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to both locals and visitors from out of state. Just know you need to bring your own alcohol.
