After I was seated, the kind wait staff came and took my drink orders and brought me some bread, which was really good. It wasnt exactly quiet, but the atmosphere was lively and comfortable.
I had the mozzarella caprese and a glass of Chianti. It took probably 12 minutes to get, but I was okay with it, given how busy it was. The caprese was good, and I could tell that the ingredients were fresh. They took my main entrée order when it came, which I liked. I didn’t feel rushed at all.
I ordered the portobello ravioli, and it arrived just as I was finishing with my appetizer. The portion was large, and smelled great. I especially liked how stuffed the raviolis were, and the seasoning was excellent as well. Im pretty sure they make their bolognese sauce in-house. The ingredients were high-quality and delicious.
I wasnt going to order dessert, but I changed my mind when I saw that they had lemon cake. Im glad I did, because that was some of the best lemon cake ive ever had. It was moist, sweet, and perfectly portioned. I also ordered an Amaretto to go with it, which paired well with the cake.
Overall, I had a great dining experience here. The whole meal was about $95, but it was worth it. Id recommend Lucano Ristorante Italiano to anybody who wants good food and a welcoming atmosphere of a higher quality than what you may find at a Spiro’s or an Olive Garden.
5 Stars
We started with a glass of the house red blend (this was a great wine – good bite and warm undertones that paired very well with dinner), bruschetta appetizer (SO flavorful, the tomatoes were ripe and had a nice tart bite mixed with a balsamic sweet glaze on warm toast-like bread).
We bought 2 entrees – the penne rosemary pasta and a prosciutto pizza. The pizza did not disappoint (we were cautious as another pizza place in town wasn’t what we were hoping for) and the rosemary penne pasta was incredibly yummy (thick, creamy white sauce with hints of garlic and rosemary, chunks of Italian sausage and healthy portion of tangy sun dried tomatoes). We split a pistachio/chocolate gelato cup – it was more frozen than creamy so I’d probably opt out of that the next time we come.
Overall – I gave our experience 5 stars as I wouldn’t change anything. The food was good, the prices were reasonable, the portion sizes were generous, the wine was tasty, and I thought the staff was on it.
