We decided to try Il Gusto for the first time to celebrate my grandfather’s birthday, and we’re so glad that we did. The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for, classy without being pretentious. The menu had a variety of great choices, and the highlight was definitely the cheese wheel pasta that’s made tableside. I appreciated that you could pick from 10 different homemade pasta dishes. My husband and I both did the Cacio e Pepe, which was delicious! While only the two of us ordered it, they had enough for a third plate, and they kindly gave us the option to take it to go or have it plated. We had them plate it so that the rest of our table could share and enjoy. My two critiques would be that the server could’ve been a little more attentive, as my water glass sat empty for a good amount of the meal (but it was also the Thursday before Valentine’s so they were quite busy), and I would’ve liked to see them offer more than two homemade desserts. Otherwise, a great meal and we would definitely return again!

Went other night for early birthday celebration with friends. This is my 3rd time here and portions are enormous and well worth the money. The waitresses are all wonderful and accommodating. I had the seafood risotto. Not on menu but waitress told me they could do the other seafood dish with risotto. Was loaded with scallops, mussels, shrimp, calamari and risotto was cooked perfectly. Prior visits I’ve had the scallops and sea bass and both were equally delicious. The osso Bocco is wonderful too as is bolognese. Can’t wait to go back with more friends. And they are open on Monday. Will take photos next time.

The experience at Il Gusto is exquisite from start to finish. We begin with Gina’s heart-welcoming to the establishment followed by a quick and detailed service. We had as a server Nora in the didning room and the previous time Mimi & Nargiz at the bar. We were mesmerized by the portion size and the flavor of the dishes. Compliments to the chef! Amazing food combined with friendly service and welcoming owners is the key to the heart of Cheshire ❤️

The food was incredible and plated really nicely. Too bad I’ll never be coming back again. The service was abysmal. It took 20 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us. Then another 15 minutes for anyone to take our orders. Water refill was nonexistent. We asked for a refill on bread twice and never received it. No one asked how we were or if we needed anything else. Yet we heard those conversations and saw water refills happening around us so we knew they were capable, we just didnt see it at our table. No urgency. No apologies. Just poor service. Kudos to the chef because I cant imagine this restaurant is still in business for any other reason.

Exceptional from start to finish . We like sitting at the bar and the bartenders can be a let down at some places . Let’s face it not everyone has the personality . The bartenders Guy and Alex ( I think I heard right ) were attentive , polite and friendly And made each of the cocktails perfectly. Especially the espresso martinis, they can be a hit or miss . The bar area is big , the set up very well thought out . High tops and plenty of seats at the bar. And now the Food , if you love Italian this is the place . The same owner of Adriana’s in New Haven made his way to our neck of the woods and we couldn’t be more excited as a matter of fact we used to go to Adriana’s but the bar was smaller and we found as we got older we didn’t have the patience to wait for seats like when we were younger lol . But now that IL Gusto opened we didn’t hesitate , second day and we went and we can’t wait to go back . The menu has a little of everything and they didn’t start the specials yet , but when they do it’s so hard to choose . We didn’t order like on a Saturday night, we tend to eat lighter during the week , but what we had was enough to share between the two of us . And just like Adrianna’s the delicious bread comes with the peppers and olives in a tasty vinaigrette ( so Good) Quality fresh ingredients matters. The cold seafood salad and the Caesar we asked for extra anchovies and they were so generous. We split the stuff veal breast . It was delicious . We can’t wait to go back and this time on a Saturday with our Big Appetite

So excited about this place having been to Adriana’s before and it didn’t disappoint. Excellent beginning with the bread with classic peppers/onions vinaigrette and oil. Many bourbon based cocktail options. Calamari was perfectly cooked and not over breaded. We had Veal Milanese and Sea Bass Picatta which were fantastic. Had to try dessert and it was the most moist carrot cake I’ve ever had. My wife loved the tiramisu. Reasonably priced and great service. We’ve got our NEW in town GO TO!

Coming from nyc I am always skeptical when my family says they have a “great new place” for us to try, but this lived up to the hype. It’s very clean, there’s a beautiful outdoor seating area, the portions are huge and the service is fast. I loved my grilled chicken and broccoli rabe (and now have been inspired to make broccoli rabe one night this week)!

Food was excellent. We had a group of 6 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this new restaurant. Drinks, food and dessert were all great. Service was quick, accommodating and a pleasure to talk with. Glad to have this restaurant as an addition to the town of Cheshire.

Came here for me and my girlfriend’s anniversary dinner. In short the food was the highlight of the night, it was all delicious so no complaints in that department. The service however was abysmal to put it lightly. The waitress wasn’t much of a people’s person which is fine I get people can be tough but there’s a fine line between not wanting to have a conversation and being plain rude. It was dead on this Sunday it was just our table and a family and this is at 7:15… from when we got our food to leaving. We felt like we were getting rushed the entire time… while we were still clearly eating they asked us multiple times if we wanted to box it up or take it home? We responded with the obvious that we were still eating and then they(being the entire waitstaff) almost comically kept walking in front of our table which made us very uncomfortable because they made it obvious that they were just checking on us. Also when we did get our food our original waitress never checking in with us again or said goodbye. 2/10 experience would not come back if you paid me.
This is also coming from someone who was a waiter/bartender for 6 years prior so I don’t enjoy saying any of this unless I needed to.

I ordered the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, pasta was al’dente, cooked perfectly. The sauce was emulsified very nicely, a very generous amount of black pepper was used with an additional amount of pecorino romano to top.

I would highly recommend this restaurant! I will be coming back to try more pasta dishes soon!
