We met a couple for dinner last night and I was underwhelmed by the experience.
The place was packed; as usual, but the noise level was unbearable. I don’t have a hearing problem, but wow, this place is insanely loud!
When the waitress finally got around to taking our orders, I ordered something on the menu and asked her to hold the capers and sun dried tomatoes. She made an unpleasant face to express her disdain of my preference. I wasn’t asking her professional opinion because she isn’t a chef.
After waiting almost an hour, the two gentlemen got their food. Of course they felt impolite to start
eating without the two women. The waitress also brought out all the sides a little sooner than the entrees (which tasted stale). Eventually, we all finished our dinner and were feeling rushed to leave because the noise level was affecting the quality of the evening.
I know everyone likes to say, “but the food is good” as an explanation for going there, but that is a huge turn off.

Wonderfully intimate longtime trattoria in Delray Beach, owned and operated by a delightful family with service by an amazingly friendly staff. Every appetizer, soup, salad and entrée made to order, with offerings such as Lemon Sole, Yellowtail Snapper, Lamb Chops, Osso Bucco, and outstanding veal and pasta dishes. Desserts equally amazing. The repeat clientele since 1980 is testiment to this South Florida gem’s success! Be sure to make a reservation!

Nice quaint restaurant with white linens and a very friendly staff. Wilma was a delight (front of house, inside joke, look at my name).
I had the buttons bucatini amatriciana while my companion had the veal piccata with the veggie side course. Both meals were great. My meal nicely spiced (heat).
Usually (our experience) other restaurants allow the diner to substitute the veggies for pasta, unfortunately this restaurant does not. If you want pasta, it’s extra (and ranges in price).
Definitely call ahead for reservations. If you tend to be cold, bring a sweater or jacket. Fine for me (former New Englander), though not my companion.

Excellent service and food. I enjoyed the cannelloni appetizer with a side of spinach. Saved room for decadent lemon mousse with fresh berries (photo). Also had fresh made tiramisu at the table (photo). Top notch food. Quiet surroundings that became noisy as the meal progressed due to increasing customers. Arrived 5:30 pm and left at 7pm.

We thought the food was good, almost very good, but definitely short of great. Our round table for six was near the entrance and the noise level was surprisingly quiet.
I had two major complaints: the wine by the glass list did not identify whose wine was being offered, just the grape as in cabernet or chardonnay. That might be ok for a pizza joint but definitely not for a serious restaurant. My other complaint was with the bill. It was unreadable. We showed it to our server who proceed to rattle off what each of the six of us ordered. What??? We expected a new, readable bill would be offered but no such luck. A very amaturish operation.

Pleasant atmosphere, however, our chicken dish was tough and our veal dish was also tough. We brought this to the attention of the waitress who listened, said nothing, and never returned to our table. A very disappointing evening at very high prices. We will not return.

So disappointed in this restaurant. I remembered loving it, especially the veal francese, from several years ago. Went with 8 friends tonight. The veal dish was tough, bland and sauce was watery. In fact 1 friend sent it back. The prices have skyrocketed. A glass of house Cabernet Sauvignon was $17. Piece of tiramisu was $15 and ribeye steak was $60. The AC was off most of our meal and it was ridiculously hot in the seating area. On top of that the waitress was a bit surly.
Unfortunately we will not be back.

I heard excellent things about this place and was excited to try it. They food is pretty good, but not great, especially for the high prices. Service was slow and inattentive. Some staff were very friendly, but our waitress was a little on the sour side, which was a bit of a turnoff. They had a fig salad that was very good but was simple for the price. The Chicken Frances came out super rubbery. The seafood terrine was good, but lacked flavor. We had a chocolate gelato dessert that was excellent.
Overall with the misses on execution and delivery, I left a little disappointed. It probably would have been a better experience if we had the friendly waitress that we felt comfortable engaging with instead of the one we received who ignored us for long periods of time and then seemed a little hostile throughout the evening.
