Chef Egidio (Egi) Franciosa was born in a sea side city just outside Naples, Italy where food is a celebration of life, family and friendship. Egi and Jannah met in Europe and returned to the U.S. in 2010. By 2017 Il Forno’s mobile Neapolitan pizzeria was born. As the family food truck received an abundance of praise from devoted regulars, it also inspired their dream to build a restaurant where the Neapolitan love of people and fresh food are served side by side. The Franciosa family is passionate about bringing a taste of Naples toNashville, Tennessee.Buon Appetito!

This Saturday we sat inside for the first time. It is a little loud, but nothing unbearable, and they were clearly very busy. We had a 7:00 pm reservation for two and waited almost five minutes just to check in. After we did, the hostess told us it would take a few minutes for our table to be ready. However, the couple behind us—also with a 7:00 pm reservation and who checked in after us—was seated immediately. I’m honestly not sure how their system works, but it didn’t feel great. The hostess seemed overwhelmed and wasn’t particularly polite or friendly.
Overall, we still enjoyed our meal because the food is always excellent, but the check-in experience this time was disappointing. I hope it was just an off night because this has been one of our favorite spots.
The place itself looks cool, clean enough that I didn’t feel like I’d catch a disease, so points for that.
Now the food, it was fine. Not bad, not life changing. The margherita pizza tasted suspiciously like… pizza. The Bella and the Amore? Also pizza. Shocking, I know. I guess if you put an Italian sounding name on cardboard with cheese, it makes it authentic. Whitewash me harder, daddy.
Tried the pappardelle too. Even the “Italian” guy butchered the pronunciation (he’s probably named Brad), but the lamb tomato sauce slapped. Respect where it’s due.
Overall? If you’ve never left the U.S., this place will make you feel so cultured. It’s Olive Garden in cosplay. Like dating a girl who insists she’s Italian because her great-great-grandpa once waved at the Mayflower.
much from a service standpoint and you’ll enjoy the visit based on quality of food.
My only critique would be that although we had a reservation, while we were having dessert and a second round of drinks our server said the hostess might approach us in 10 minutes to clear the table. This was about an hour and a half into our time there, while we were preparing to finish drinks and leave. It wasn’t a huge issue and we understand that it’s a busy spot, but from my experience, most restaurants respect give you the full two hours.
Overall, we loved the place and would 100% recommend it for dinner. Drinks were really good, food was great, and our server was super attentive.
