I received amazing service from Bean. She was also training two new employees. I noticed it was one of the trainees’ birthdays because the staff brought out a birthday cake and card to celebrate their new employee. So sweet to witness restaurants truly caring about their employees and celebrating them.
There’s a message on their menus that says they don’t accept tips because they pay their employees livable wages. The staff’s display of kindness and community to the new employee gives me confidence their message is both true and inspiring.
I caved and also got the garlic bread as an appetizer and was pleased with the fresh garlic on it.
It’s a small restaurant and even smaller parking lot, which makes it intimate but also tough for parking.
I’m a vegetarian and tried the Margherita and Mushroom pizza, both of which were delicious. I’m not usually a thin-crust lover, but these pizzas were still delicious, particularly because of the high quality of the bake, dough crust, and tomato sauce.
Our server, Autumn, was very warm, friendly, and helpful, and made us feel very welcome and attended to.
Further, as Autumn overheard that it was my birthday that day, the restaurant gave us the Olive Cake as complementary with our visit, which was very thoughtful of them and of her. I’m not normally a cake-loving guy, but I actually enjoyed the Olive Cake because its sweetness level was more mild. In addition, the actual cake itself was a very soft, velvety texture, and a very enjoyable eat.
Overall, had a great experience at IL Focolare. Would certainly consider going again.
Keep in mind that the restaurant generally-accepts reservations of only up to 2 or 4 people; something to consider when making plans on how many people to go with.
I ordered for pick up and the service was friendly. It was also ready at the exact time I was told.
I did order well done so the top of the crust was a bit burnt on the edge, the bottom was perfefect though.
I can’t fault them for that since I did order well done.
Just be aware well done at this pizza joint is not necessary like it is at other places.
Limited selection on beer & wine but it’s available. I forgot the waitresses name but she was friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. The only thing I didn’t appreciate was being told I could do half & half pizza without being told I’d be up charged for toppings? Was kind of strange, wish it would’ve been communicated but I’m not letting it put a damper on how delicious the pizza was and great the spot is as a whole.
Savannah (I didn’t ask for the correct spelling) was friendly, knowledgeable, and helped us pick what to try as newcomers.
We even got to meet the famous Bean from reviews, and is also wonderful.
I didn’t take photos until the plates were empty.
They do not take tips- because they are pod a living wage! But if they did- they would have gotten more than a 20% easily. And bonus, because I loved the olives so much, they gave me a container of more olives. I have a photo that I will add to this later.
MUST TRY!!!
