What a lovely welcoming gem this is… Had been to the Hankridge Arms before we came here for a quick drink and it was awful. No atmosphere and miserable non engaging staff so it was a real pleasure to walk into this place. Admittedly it wasn’t busy, just a few locals having a drink. However we were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Our server/ bar lady Katya was absolutely amazing. Really engaging, friendly and an absolute sweetheart. Our food was lovely too. We had calamari fritti and tartare to start which was very good but the mains (both had king prawn, squid and mussel risotto) was cooked to perfection. We also shared a bottle of pinot grigio which was lovely. To top it off the lovely Katya brought us over a shot of lemoncello on the house as it was my birthday. Never been to this restaurant before but will certainly be going back. Couldn’t of chosen a nicer place to spend my evening. Highly recommend this warm, welcoming place

Tucked away in a narrow country road, this cosy well decorated restaurant offered surprisingly delicious food with really friendly service. We opted for the Sunday special (£15 for margherita and a glass of wine), and the pizzas were well made with good crispy bases. We ended the meal with a sticky toffee pudding that was light and fluffy. Definitely would recommend!

We had an absolutely fantastic meal at Il Basilico in West Monkton, near Taunton. The panzerotti fritti and bruschetta starters were fresh and full of flavour, and both the spaghetti carbonara and pollo e gorgonzola mains were simply outstanding – some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and really made the evening special. A huge thank you as well for kindly letting us stay overnight in our little motorhome – it made the experience even more memorable. We can’t wait to come back!

What a lovely place. We had been meaning to visit for over a year and then we moved over to Bridgwater. However we booked a show at the Macmillan and thought it was the perfect opportunity to visit. The welcome we received was lovely. The staff were very attentive throughout and when we started to run out of time before the show, they made sure the deserts were served promptly. The meal was lovely from the starter all the way through to the desert. We will definitely be back and have recommended to family and friends ever since. Great effort and a real hidden gem!

Visited a packed venue, great atmosphere, unfortunately it was downhill from there!!
A mall selection of starters and when our spaghetti Bolognese came out ,it was a spaceship sized dish with a child’s portion (size)of spaghetti and even smaller amounts of meat!!!
Our side order came out wrong with french beans instead of cheesy garlic bread,we had to remind the waitress as they’d forgotten it!
It eventually came out after wed eaten our main meal!!
The desert ( creme brulee) was again miniscule!
Don’t go here if you are feeling hungry!!!
I’ve been to other Italian restaurants, were you don’t get “prisoner of war” sized portions that also taste far better!!

We took my mum there for her 90th birthday. We chose a quiet time as she is deaf and when it is noisy has problems hearing the conversation and we had a dog with us. The venue was lovely and the staff were efficient and friendly. The food was very good quality and we all very much enjoyed the experience.

My mum was very happy and had a wonderful birthday.
