Unpretentious eatery featuring performing hibachi chefs, sushi rolls & other Japanese fare.

Note, I was part of a party of six and we did a regular table, not a hibachi table.
Redeeming points: hibachi noodles were fire. Kitty sushi roll was good (that’s the fried roll), sweet potato roll, lady rock roll were all good.
Would not come back for:
“Clear” soup was literally just noodles and water, no flavor at all. The house salad dressing was simultaneously clumpy, grainy, and runny. I shared the steak and shrimp, and the shrimp was overcooked.
The worst part was, one of my party of six ordered literally just a sushi roll and side of rice, and everyone else was done eating our hibachi before either of her items came out. We were literally one of three tables in the entire restaurant (new year’s eve around 8:30pm).
Overall, I would not come back unless the chef seriously overhauls what they’re doing.

Food is not hot, even though I came to pick up 30 minutes after ordering (like their website suggested when I placed the order). When I got there, the staff seemed confused about anyone placing an order in the first place. After waiting 20 more minutes, this is what they gave me.. it seems like someone’s leftovers since most of the plate is cold and the filet isn’t cooked how it was ordered and I don’t even think this is filet. It is tough like regular steak… I’m extremely disappointed in everything and will never return. I’ll make sure I can stop anyone else I know from having the same disappointment I had.

Ikura used to be a favorite when I was at Tulane, so I was excited to visit again while in New Orleans, but it was a complete letdown. We ordered the same dish twice, and the portions were noticeably different, which was bad. Why the inconsistency, shouldn’t you match the first dish that was served? The curry ramen was especially bad: a hard-boiled egg instead of the jammy kind, overly salty, and the meat was tough and bland like it was just boiled. Curry ramen used to be my go-to dish… The other dishes were average at best.
Really disappointed to see how far this place has fallen. I won’t be coming back.

The sushi was awful. The tuna had a grayish color to it. The service was also bad, we had to get up and find someone several times to ask for something. The chicken teriyaki was okay but it was like a pressed piece of chicken.

Literally the best sushi and hibachi I’ve had in my life!!! ❤️❤️
EVERYTHING was sooooo good!
Clear soup was very tasty, I wanted to drink it from the bowl!! I don’t even like salad but their homemade ginger dressing made the salad irresistible!

The sushi is fine. They don’t have a lot of options about fresh fish or sashimi. The restaurant seems it’s stuck in the past.

My wife and I stopped by Wednesday to grab a bite to eat. It was our first time dining at this restaurant and we were pleased with everything from the amount of food that is portioned to the price of the food. The service was prompt, professional, and very enjoyable. We will be eating here again in the near future and will possibly make this a regular stop during our date nights. The sushi rolls were huge and very delicious.I had no complaints and would recommend eating here to anyone looking for great hibachi/ sushi.

Where do I even begin with this amazing experience?
It was for my 3rd daughter’s 9th birthday and we drove to New Orleans because she wanted Hibachi out of town. Despite bad weather the trip was well worth it.
Our family was seated right away and our sushi rolls were out and ready to eat in no time and were delicious to say the least. We ordered 7 different rolls including the Poboy and Bourbon roll which I highly recommend if you are dining in.
The hibachi was such a full treat that had I known it would be so filling I probably would’ve gotten less sushi because I was not prepared for such generous portion sizes for the family. It made me happy I didn’t get an appetizer cause I wouldn’t have made it out of the restaurant for at least an hour from being so full.
They sang my daughter happy birthday and made her day extra special.
The atmosphere was open, friendly, and inviting. The lighting along with it made it great for an intimate family moment and I will definitely be returning. Now my 5 year old wants the same place for her 6th birthday .
Many thanks to the wonderful staff of Ikura for having us, my compliments to the Chefs and God bless them for the heart warming food!!

Great experience. Our time was well spent. I chosen this place because I was bringing a group of people together who was meeting for the first time . I felt that if the people didn’t talk much at least we will be entertained by the chef’s tricks, skills ,techniques and we were. The food was great and plentiful everyone appreciated the food, the atmosphere, and the special gathering. The Chef made it a great experience.
