This is truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Every bite was delicious. Our lovely server, Rese, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful at selecting our wonderful dishes. We can’t wait to come back to try the tasting menu. We would love to bring our parents but we’re worried that the music would be too loud.

Incredible tasting menu with inventive yet authentic flavors from across Asia. The care and attention to each ingredient, sauce, and layer of flavors is rare. Worth a trip for the chefs counter.

A truly stunning meal. We ordered the agedashi tofu, cucumber salad, green curry, spicy pork stir fry, and for dessert we got the sesame donut. Everything exceeded expectation, and our expectations were high! We will certainly return. Delightful service from Jess and Dustin.

This place is truly special! I do believe i enjoyed the BEST dining experience of my life at the Chefs Counter. Chef Phillip creates amazingly delicious flavors that blew my mind! We enjoyed ~14 tastings that were all phenomenal. One of my favorites was the grilled oysters (and I really dislike oysters!) There was also a vegan dish that was bursting with flavor.
I’m from Southern California and would expect this level of restaurant to be in any big city, not in a tiny town like Carlton, OR! I will be in Oregon again next year and Ikigai is the first stop I’m making!
Don’t hesitate, make the reservation at the Chefs Counter. It’s worth EVERY PENNY

Everything here is fantastic. Their attention to detail is impeccable, the staff are all great people and it has a good vibe. It’s close by but I would go out of my way, like far out of my way, for this experience!

Enjoying a chef’s meal from the minds of some incredibly talented people makes for an experience like never before. Tonight, we experienced a kaiseki-like meal, “Off the Cuff” from a very talented restaurant, Ikigai. My multi-course meal consisted of an egg-on-egg sakizuke, yellowfin tuna sashimi, Yamhill County lettuce with crunchy goodness, some amazing chargrilled oysters, romesco with a sauce you wanted more of, heavenly Dan Dan noodles that are a sin, a fresh pacific dungeness crab hand roll, a Japanese style NY steak and eggs, then we finished with an Okinawan inspired fried donut which you can smother in a chocolate ganache. With every flavor, we realized how fortunate we are to have this first-class restaurant in the Willamette Valley. Thank you for the excellent service, food, and atmosphere. And that’s not mentioning the incredible Sake menu.

As a vegetarian, i am really excited to have this restaurant closer to home so i dont have to go to portland for veg food. We ate her for my birthday and ordered tofu and yakisoba noodles off of the regular menu. My husband still eats seafood and he had a couple of huge roles. We like it so much we made new years eve reservations! They had a separate tasting menu that was all vegetarian. Everything was outstanding! From mushrooms to celery root to tofu. Really well done and the service was fantastic on both visits. Strongly recommend!

A wonderful dining experience from start to finish. We were there on only the second night since they opened, and the place was running like a well oiled machine, with a very relaxed vibe. Very good, attentive but paced service. We ordered Agedashi Tofu, Crusted Yellowfin Tuna, and a big bowl of sashimi and stuff, called the Chirashi Raw Collection. The mix and match possibilities were endless, and every little colorful thing on the plate was there for a delicious reason. And there was much swooning. Full bar in the back with their own little menu (smash burgers, ramen bowls), the wine selection is big enough but not crazy big, with reasonable by the glass or bottle prices. Great craft cocktails, too.
