It’s been over a decade since I regularly ate at Ike’s in Oakland. I was shocked to try it again today and be so disappointed. Dry bread. Low-quality meatballs–one of which was hard and porous as if it had been microwaved a few times. Very little sauce. $14.95 for this? Treat was okay but I wont be back.

Foods always good. Hopefully mine is as well since they literally just threw it together last second for me as I was waiting over 15 mins for ONE sandwich. I was the only person in there. I understand you have door dash orders etc . But when you have a person that made the choice to actually come in and visit your food spot you have a priority to give that customer the best experience you can provide . Your door dash customers dont even see your work ethic or appreciate you as much as a qalk in customer would. You SHOULD do your best to knock out that 2 minutes of sandwich making for the in house customer and get them on there way with a smile instead of having them wait on there 30 minute lunch break while he watches you make 5 other sandwiches in front of you . Amd even if tjat the case of policy where you handle your orders a certain way then thats way . But as customer service PROFESSIONALS you should have the common sense to let your customers know like ” sound great just a heads up there about 4 or 5 sandwiches ahead of you that should take around 15 mins . Do you mind the wait time ?” Before you have a customer sitting there arms crossed anger and confused why it takes so long for a simple sandwich

Today was my first visit to this sandwich shop, and unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be returning. After I placed my order, I noticed other customers being greeted — but I wasn’t acknowledged at all. Unsure where to stand, I asked the larger white woman with short/ear length curly hair where the line began. She looked me up and down and said, “There’s clearly no line,” in a tone that was both rude and condescending. It was an off-putting way to be spoken to. Had I been greeted like the other customers, I would’ve known exactly where to place my order to begin with.

Apparently, the men standing around were waiting for pickup orders, but the overall atmosphere felt unfriendly and chaotic. That negative energy even affected how I felt about the food — my sandwich was inexplicably soggy and mushy despite being freshly made.

For over $20, I expected a much better experience. Instead, I left feeling disrespected and disappointed. Definitely not worth the money or the mistreatment.

After moving to Sacramento from out of state I was mourning my old sandwich spot before my friend introduced me here. The sandwiches are so good, the selection is extensive and inclusive, and the service has always been good. The Dutch bread is so high quality I’m shocked by it every time I see it. Having Zappa chips ups it to a 11/10. Very picturesque for my out of state friend for sure!!! Highly recommend especially if you are vegan and vegetarian!!

I traveled 24 miles to eat here. Why? The sandwiches are second to none. I literally cannot imagine myself eating any other type sub sandwiche. It’s impossible for me. The flavors, selections and service. Can’t beat it. Enjoy.

Wanted to go in and out for my lunch break. Mobile order wasn’t ready when promised and everyone seems like chickens with their heads cut off. Didn’t like that my 30 minute lunch break turned into a 57 minute lunch break. Apparently speed is sacrificed along with quality as my “fresh sandwich” was cold. I thought every sandwich is “hot”. Place seems to have really fallen off. Something seems different. The staff seemed frustrated but with an environment like what I witnessed, I wouldn’t be happy either.

Just landed in SAC from Ohio and couldn’t really find a sandwich place until i stumbled across Ike’s on my way to a market for medicine.
Ordered through post mates or caviar I don’t remember but I got the backstabber. I was worried the balance would be off like most “Caesar salad-like” sandwiches but my god this is one hell of a sandwich. I don’t know what crunchy Dutch bread is but I’m here for it.

Might have to snag one more before I leave this weekend !

The staff is oh so friendly. The manager greeted & welcomed me in as soon as I walked in.
Sandwiches are so delish. Pretty cool names. They have a different type of selection for chips but they are yummy. Huge variety, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. I just wish they had soup. A broccoli/cheese, chicken noodles and clam chowder would be ideal. Their onion rings and jalapeño poppers are fire too though.

I normally don’t write negative reviews since it’s not enjoyable. However, in this case, it’s necessary to highlight the food quality and issues encountered at this particular shop. I waited 40 minutes for a sandwich with four sandwiches made ahead of mine (do the math). The workers were respectful but they seem to lack direction and capability (that sounds like a mgmt issue). Moreover, I spent $60 on three sandwiches only to find a single slice of meat in them. (that’s sandwiches, tax, tip, NO chips or drinks)
