I’m so happy that my usual sushi spot was closed on Sunday afternoon, because it led me to find Ikeda. The lunch specials were a great deal. They came with miso soup which was flavorful and had plenty of Tofu pieces, 5 pieces of sushi or 6 pieces of sashimi, and a roll. I recommend choosing the sashimi – the pieces were large and the fish was clean and fresh. The dragon roll (california roll topped with eel) tasted amazing. I also really liked the garfield roll, which was a california roll topped with baked salmon. Lastly, we ordered a surf roll and I loved the seaweed salad on top! My husband said it was like a dessert roll. All the rolls were thick and well portioned. I will definitely come back and recommend to others. Service was friendly and efficient and there was nice ambiance. I think they still had their romantic Valentine’s Day Playlist on because there was a lot of Bryan Adams and Celine Dion playing.

The sushi rolls are fresh and beautifully presented. They offer a DAILY BOGO special …buy 1 SPECIAL ROLL and get the 2nd @ 50% off. My sister ordered the Bento and said it was very good! There is a decent amount of booth and table seating and very clean. The service is quick and servers are very attentive. Go and check this japanese restaurant out! And you’ll be very satisfied!

Good quality sushi at a reasonable price. Family-owned and friendly staff. Pictured is a blue crab hand roll with added Masato and light rice. Eel w/o eel sauce add sesame seeds, yellowtail, albacore, and baby sushi– Tamago- slightly sweet egg. Also, Super Philly roll (no eel sauce, light rice) and of course, hot sake!

My wife and I were having our Kia serviced at the dealership on Beach Blvd. We decided to eat wile we waited and she found this Japanese Restaurant that was right across the street, Perfect!
So we took a short walk and we were pleasantly surprised at this random find.
We will surely return when we’re in the area. The food was excellent, the portions we generous and the service too notch. Our server was the perfect mix of an attentive and friendly. That type of quality service with the excellent food is in my mind the perfect mix for repeat customers. Something I noticed wile dining. So if you’re in Huntington Beach give Ikeda a try you won’t be disappointed.

I found Ikeda Japanese Dining on Saturday on Google Maps after driving a couple of hours and feeling hungry. I arrive a little before 4 pm beating the evening dinner crowd hungry for something other than fast food. I was greeted by the hostess/waiter and offered the choice of a table or booth in a manner of a practiced courtesy. Before ordering, I had to use the restroom and was pleasantly surprised that not only was the facility clean but looked like an attractive restroom in a nice home instead of a neglected facility in a community park. The décor of the restaurant itself is simple but welcoming.
The menu is fairly extensive that would satisfy most. I placed my order and started reading my book (I was dining alone that day) when the food started coming sooner than expected. I mentioned that was fast to the waiter and she paused and then made a philosophical comment about the concept of time that made me chuckle. The Japanese style fried Calamari was hot and crispy and a good amount for an appetizer. I ordered two rolls. The Ichiban Roll (Spicy tuna roll topped with yellowtail tempura) that tasted freshly made but did not taste “spicy” which was fine with me. The Spicy Baked Salmon Roll (California roll, jalapeño, topped with baked salmon, eel sauce, spicy mayo and sriracha) had just the right amount spicy heat to make taste interesting and enjoyable. The sauce on both rolls was tasty.
I must say, the presentation of the food was excellent. I was impressed in the way the Baked Salmon Roll looked elegant on a broad leaf (don’t know what vegetable that was). The sauce on the roll was added with a touch of artistic flair. My complements to the kitchen.
A shout out to the waiter Leann whose courtesy, attentiveness and general hospitality was exceptional and who represented the face of the restaurant very well. Next time I am in the neighborhood, I plan to come again with my family. Cheers!
