We went there improvising for our NYE dinner. They had us sat at the counter since it was fully booked as we could expect on a date like that.
The waiter seemed to forget about us at some point and dishes were long awaited between one another. Portions are scarce and pricey. Not to mention the nonsense of cutlery service when there is none other than the usual chopsticks. I don’t get the prices for the size of the portions provided.

One of the best sushi place I’ve been in Italy.
I’m not really a fan of eat-all-you-can for sushi cos of the compromise of quality. I’d rather spend a bit more to be sure I’d get quality, because it’s a raw food.
Anyway, this place serves really good sashimi. I can say they’re fresh and the taste was really good. The sashimi is always the best way to judge for freshness.
I also appreciate it that they have unagi.
The menu is done online, with pictures, thank goodness. Makes it easier for selection.
The staff are attentive they are really good with what they do. It is also very organized in there.
The ambience is also good, I like the set up of different table settings.
Make sure to book your reservation when you want to come here.

Food was good but a bit pricy. Probably one of the most expensive meals I’ve eaten in Italy so far, but it is japanese food not Italian. The dumplings were very good and so was the salmon poke bowl

Genuinely delicious, high quality, fresh sushi at a reasonable price point.

I treated myself to lunch and ordered the taiyo which was an unexpected flavour burst. The xiao long bao filling was excellent but was let down slightly by the dough being ever so slightly too thick. The sushi/sashimi selection was fresh and the maki roll with ?stracciatella on top was an interesting flavour combo that I had never tried before. I wish I wasn’t in a hurry so I could try more!

It’s more like a fusion japanese-asian restaurant but the quality is good and the atmosphere is very nice and comfortable.

Very mixed feelings about that restaurant. Staff was extremely kind and accommodating as I’m vegetarian, and even offered to prepare a homemade vegetarian ramen for me, which I gladly accepted. The setting is perfect, even romantic to some extent, and the place is very well located. Now, for the food, it wasn’t on par unfortunately. It was just okay, neither spicy nor tasty nor memorable. My favourite eat was the edamame… Though I can only hope for the other dishes to offer better flavours for the price.
Extra Point: This place is solo-eater friendly, which is very much appreciated.

What is the best compliment you can make on a sushi bar? Basically that the fish is very fresh and that is exactly what you will find in Ikai. We ordered two bento’s (japanish menu including soup, main dish and dessert) for approx 15/18€ each and they were very good. The soup was correct (7/10), fresh and tasty. The main dishes were very good, specially the tepanyaki chicken and the tuna and salmon sashimi, I give them a 9/10. With regards to the desserts you can choose either fruit or ice cream. The fruit was good, nothing to complain about but the green tea ice cream was very very good (9/10). So all that together, the good price and a good and quick service made a 5* place to us. So we would recommend a visit for fish lovers 🙂

No “all you can eat” style. It’s the best Japanese cuisine restaurant in Verona, so far.
Large menu with a great variety of fresh fish, both row and cooked.

Not bad, not impressive. Affordable alternative in the area. Although it doesn’t disappoint, the food is regular and the place for sure needs some care.
