My friends and I go to iHop in Shawano somewhat frequently because it is one of the closest things to us. However recently we had a very poor experience that caused us all to agree to not return. For reference, my friends and I are ages 19-18, so we are somewhat used to receiving poor service due to how young we look because we “won’t tip well.” Which is why we always try to make sure to tip our fellow customer service workers. However, the service we received was absolutely terrible. One of our orders was incorrect, we were not checked on by our server until we were finished eating, causing me to have to ask a different server for assistance. And our bill was not split after we asked for it to be. Finally we went up to pay and I, who was a little frustrated from how we were treated, left a $2 tip, which is not at all standard for the $6 tip I usually leave on a $13 meal, (combined with my friends $6 tips.) my friend left a $2 tip as well and I noticed my other friend did not leave a tip and when he was receiving his change he was $2 short. He mentioned this and the server told him it was a part of tax. However the tax is always listed on the receipt and added before you pay. We were all pretty frustrated so we left it at that and left. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Recently ate at Shawano IHop with my grandchild. I have eaten here several times in the last six months as I live in the area. Before it was IHop, you would get 4 different flavors of syrup, now you only get one. Hard to believe that a place that specializes in waffles and pancakes only puts out one flavor of syrup. I also don’t understand why they put an empty pitcher on the end of each table. I asked and they said it is their way of knowing that the table has been cleaned. We don’t drink coffee so we usually ask them to remove it. They are usually hesitant to do so because it must be such a rule. It is in the way and the last time I was there the pitcher was filthy. It was full of coffee stains and had strawberry jam stuck on the outside that we get on us when we tried to move it. I have never seen a restaurant that does such a thing. It is very annoying, in the way, unsightly, and frequently dirty. My family and I will not be returning.

Not impressed, and will not be back. Food was no where near what we expected, place was empty and still had a long wait. Noone cleaned their plates, and prices are a little high for what we ordered. Need to do better.

Before I ordered, I waited 15 min for someone to take my order. What I did order, looked absolutely nothing like what it showed in the menu picture. I ordered strawberry cheesecake waffle, it came out with a waffle that had a small dollop of cheese cake filling and 2 small strawberry slices..

“Here’s the scoop on my grand opening experience at IHOP in Shawano. So, I walk in, right, and I’m like, ‘Where’s the coffee at?’ But it’s like a game of hide and seek—every time I blink, the coffee’s gone! And the forks? Well, you might as well bring your own from home, ’cause they’re rarer than a unicorn there! I’m at a pancake place, not a speakeasy for silverware! Then, I noticed everyone in there looking grumpier than a bear with a toothache, like they’d all lost a bet! It’s a party, people—smile! The chefs were frying eggs like they were solving a Rubik’s Cube, and my waitress? Oh, bless her heart, she was more forgetful than a goldfish with amnesia! Every time she came by, she had to take a special trip back to the kitchen. IHOP, let’s make a deal: I want coffee, punctual food, happy vibes, and a full set of utensils—how ’bout that? All jokes aside it was not a good experience I paid 50 dollars to be frustrated I’ll go to McDonald’s next time or 1 of the many other restaurants in Shawano

Even though I’m not from Shawano, I decided to stop by IHOP while I was in town, and I’m really glad I did. I went alone and had a great experience from start to finish. The waitress who helped me was very kind, attentive, and made me feel welcome right away, which I truly appreciated.
I ordered a strawberry shake and an omelet, and both were absolutely delicious. The shake was creamy, sweet, and refreshing—perfectly made. The omelet was flavorful and cooked just right, with generous portions and a satisfying taste. I also got the chance to try the tacos, and they honestly exceeded my expectations. They were packed with flavor, fresh ingredients, and had a nice balance of textures.
The restaurant itself was clean and had a cozy atmosphere, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. It’s always nice to find a place where the food and service both stand out. Even though I don’t live in Shawano, if I’m ever in the area again, I’ll definitely make a point to stop by and eat here. It was a great experience overall, and I’d highly recommend this location to anyone passing through.
