The waiter/front entry fella was nice. Gave us time to select our meals. Wait time on meals was long. Salads (even though purchased as a side) should have came our first.
Entrees arrived and then some sides separately. They should have used the same plate. House fav…ham and cheese omelet with white cheese sauce came without the cheese. The waiter got us some, the kitchen staff dished up cold sauce to serve to us. Omelet was fine otherwise. My daughter had the 2x2x2 (eggs, ham and sausage) with side of pancakes. Pancakes were rubbery to me and a little overdone.
My salad was fine as was my husband’s. The sandwich served was fried not grilled (error by the kitchen and not noticed by waiter until the table.) He did offer to exchange and I said no big deal. I do regret it only because it has a spicy batter I did not care for.
My husband had the chicken fried steak (no photo.) Too much black pepper and he said mine is better. No mashed potatoes and no green beans in the restaurant so he had to order fries. How does one not have mashed potatoes available?
The restaurant only had 4 tables with patrons (2 when we were there and the other one had their food already) so I don’t understand the issues with the kitchen timing and errors.
Edit:
I’m lowering the star rating as IHOP thinks they can squeeze my 4 star into a 5 star (see their reply) the next time we go to IHOP. My food rating was low. I want good service and atmosphere too. If the food is not good there is a good chance we’re not coming back no matter if a restaurant changes their service or atmosphere. Our waiter was great so that wasn’t an issue here.
The Service: While it wasn’t busy, the three staff seemed stretched. We had difficulty getting a glass of water and hot sauce. Our server did apologize for it, so that made it somewhat better.
The Atmosphere: was the same chain-store atmosphere. They could possibly personalize it since it’s in a college town.
Waited to be seated, nobody came so we just sat.
There were 3 other tables. Waitress told us “I am very busy so it will take a long time to serve you” we said fine. We got there at 6:30PM on a Saturday.
We waited 40 MINUTES for a MENU. At this point, there were only 3 tables including us and they were small tables. She came by, asked what we would like to drink. We said coffee. We waited another 20 minutes for her to come back and ASK AGAIN what we wanted to drink. Another lady came to give us our menu.
Anyways, comes back 30 minutes later to take our order. We wait another 20minutes for it to come out.
She says she will bring out butter. Never does, brings out check instead.
We left at around 8:20pm
The bathroom – my 7 year old stated it is disgusting. Sewer gas smell, fixtures are worn and not appealing. The mark of a restaurant is it’s bathroom; I just think of how much time the crew spends in there exposed to the filth!
Please give this dude business, he acted like he owns and runs the place as if it his home and welcomed the guests with a warm heart.
I don’t go out of my way to do reviews but I did for this spot because this man seriously impressed me.
Also he could take full orders with no writing down and gog everything right exactly. 11/10 on his service alone.
