We hadn’t been to Ideal Tavern in a few years but after seeing them win the 2025 WingFest we decided to give it a try. WOW we were greeted very nice at the entrance and sat on a high top. The drinks are amazing, food was great and there’s a reason why they won WingFest unreal. Our waitress Ravon was one of the nicest and knowledgeable people we have met. We will be back soon.

My wife and I stopped into Ideal Tavern during the Southington Apple Festival, and overall, it was a really solid dinner experience.
We started with the calamari appetizer, which was decent but not great. It was cooked fine, but the flavor was just okay. It came with a marinara sauce, and I think a lemon aioli or something a little different could have made it stand out more.
I also got a six-piece order of buffalo wings, and those were excellent. They were big, juicy, and full of flavor with a nice crisp to them. The sauce had great balance, and the blue cheese dressing was surprisingly good (definitely above average).
For mains, my wife had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and I had the apple burger special. The burger was good, cooked medium rare and had good flavor. The aioli on it was excellent, though the apples didn’t add much for me. It was still a big, satisfying burger overall. My wife really enjoyed her sandwich. I tried a bite, and it was delicious.
The fries were unique too, kind of a homemade style I haven’t really seen before, but tasty and crisp.
Our server, Raven, was fantastic; friendly, attentive, and on top of everything.
All in all, Ideal Tavern is a solid spot with great service and good food. The wings and the sandwiches were definitely the highlights for us.

In town for work and found Ideal Tavern — absolute gem.
Raven was my server and she was as charming as she was attentive. I put her to the “No Menu Necessary” challenge and let her pick everything… and saying the food was amazing would be putting it lightly. She crushed it.

We visited during Southington Restaurant Week and were so impressed! The prix fixe three-course dinner was an incredible value generous portions, delicious food, and upscale casual vibes. The Frozen for a Pear cocktail came out smoking and was a total showstopper.
For appetizers, we had the spinach artichoke dip and vodka meatballs, both flavorful. Our mains were the pappardelle bourguignon and chicken piccata. Dessert did not disappoint either, the sea salt caramel cheesecake and chocolate cake were the perfect sweet finish.
Service was great, and the atmosphere felt lively yet relaxed. Highly recommend checking this place out, especially during restaurant week. We’ll definitely be back!

This place has a great atmosphere but the food was disgusting I was served 10 wings for a ridiculous price and the wings were overcooked… they didn’t even bother to season them at all it’s like they just threw the raw wings in there plain and just gave them to me. I couldn’t even bite into them as you can see in the photo the wings literally look mummified this is ridiculous… never eating here again, maybe to have a drink but that’s about it the food was incredibly disgusting

It was Taco Tuesday.. I was fixin for some fish tacos, wasn’t happening today, they were off the menu. Hey, I tried the others, and they were pretty good, actually very good and you needed to order at least 3 at $3. Ea. My Guinness nitro was good, smooth, good for the evening. My wife had a lemon drop martini with a sugar rim and she says it was delicious.. Now that I know the other tacos are better than what I was expecting, we will most certainly be back. Great new Sangria made by Mike. Loved the new twist!! Had mussels and they were amazing. Burger was juicy, and delicious. Had a great time at the bar. Such a great group of customers and staff. We have been coming here for 10 years. This was our best experience. Will be back for sure!!

The staff is always friendly. They seem to be very understaffed Thursday lunch. Crystal the bartender is very good the food is just ok. The wings are excellent. Some please tell the owner to shovel in front of his restaurant the only place on the street not shovel Monday or Thursday dangerous and looks super unprofessional!!
