We live in Saugatuck and enjoy going for brunch occasionally. We recommend the cornmeal pancakes and blueberry muffins. The omlet/scrambles are fantastic. The winter hours significantly reduce their schedule (open Friday thru Sunday). Because it is so popular, in the summertime, you will have to wait to get in. The location, is right across the street from the water, and in summer there is lots of activity and the town is filled with love and romance. Great place to come with your loved ones. Food here is great. Must go even if you have to wait….it’s worth it.

We had a really disappointing experience here. The waiter barely engaged with us, the service felt cold, and the food was just okay. We were a minority group visiting from out of state, just trying to enjoy a meal together.

When we paid, we accidentally missed the tip line. Half of our group stepped outside, and the other half stayed back to use the restroom. As they walked out, the staff suddenly started yelling at them to “get out.” No questions, no conversation; just shouting. It was shocking, embarrassing, and honestly felt directed at us for who we were.

We did go back in and leave a cash tip, but the experience had already been ruined. No family or group should ever be spoken to like that, especially when nothing wrong was done.

The way we were treated was rude, unprofessional, and deeply disrespectful. People deserve better, kindness, patience, and basic respect shouldn’t be optional.

Everything was incredibly fresh. French toast had amazing flavor and the eggs were so fresh. Loved dining with all the locals.

We were staying nearby (iykyk), and like most hidden gems we found this place because the place we planned to go had an hour long wait. So we ended up here got sat right away and had the most peaceful relaxing breakfast on the porch. The food was delicious but im simple I had the two eggs two sausage meal. My ONLY comment was the Cottage Fries are actually chips and for the life of me scrambled eggs and potato chips . I just couldn’t do it. But the stagg was kind enough to bring me a paper bag to.take them with me for later and they were great at lunch time. So if you’re in the area skip the obvious option. Also my grandmother’s name was Ida.

Cute and cozy breakfast joint! Not too busy or difficult to get a seat in the colder months, but expect a longer wait to be seated come summer. Great food all-around, but the muffins and fruit plates definitely stand out! Parking is available in front of the restaurant on both sides of the street.

Get here early because they fill up fast. This place is delicious and a must every time we come to Saugatuck. Griddle cakes are a bit different than a pancake and a must try. The fruit cup is always full of a variety of fruits, not just melons. Do yourself a favor and get a muffin too, you won’t regret it!

All of the breakfast dishes were good, they just didn’t stand out in any way. The exception was the orange juice and grapefruit juice – both were fresh squeezed as we watched. The wait when we arrived (late Sunday morning around 10:30) was 45 to 60 minutes, but we were fortunate to grab two seats at the counter which were 1st-come 1st-served.

Definitely a gem not to be missed! Ida Red’s is a delight of a place. The local diner feel you’re looking for with great food, great portions and all at a value price. This is the place in town to go get full!

We have visited Saugatuck three winters in a row but we were finally able to stop in at Ida’s and crossed it off our Saugatuck bucket list this winter. It is an amazing small-town-feel diner, with a great menu and friendly service. A must see restaurant if you’re visiting the area.

Saugatuck is pretty deserted in January. My sister and I were craving a nice breakfast on our way back home, and Ida’s was one of the only spots open. Big sis ordered French toast, easy over eggs and sourdough toast. I ordered the Athena scrambler with rye toast. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while. Amazing service. High quality ingredients. Big sis said it was the best French toast she’d ever eaten! Highly recommend.
