The food is good. I liked this place until I noticed something different on my bill. They have started adding their own tips to your bill. It should be gratuity, not tips. Then send you a bill with the tip field open as well. The chefs have been great and entertaining, and I love the atmosphere, but they have definitely lacked presentation in the drink department. No embellishments or trimming aŕound drinks is horrible to me. Place a lemon, lime, orange, or cherry like before. It took a long time to receive the bill, and we were ready to go. I definitely don’t like that, but I will update you when it gets better.

I had a birthday dinner with friends at Ichiban this past Sunday. I’d like to be more positive about the experience but I really can’t be. The interior of the restaurant is dated. It could use some renovations.. The service was average and we were never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. The soup was just broth with a mushroom slice floating in it. The salad was a small portion of iceberg lettuce with French dressing. On the positive side the servers were sweet and the chefs, of course, were entertaining. The actual dinner serving were large but there was nothing outstanding about the food. When the server found out it was my birthday she came out and said I could have a birthday dessert for $9. I was surprised. Most restaurants will give the birthday celebrant at least a scoop of free ice cream. I have to say I won’t be back.

Think twice – better yet, don’t think twice at all coming here to eat. This restaurant needs to have an inspector come out to evaluate and observe its cleanliness, hygiene measures and roach infestation. After being seated and not served any drinks for at least 15 minutes, someone noticed there was a cockroach under the plate where we were seated. Crumbs of food pieces under the chairs and stained cutlery. We chose not to eat here just based off that alone, the service was slow and the bathroom (women’s) was dirty – toilet paper on the floor, dirty sink and unpleasant smell. Would not recommend this place to ANYONE! There are other hibachi restaurants that serve better food with great customer service!

They’ll choose when to make your reservations eligible. This place is an absolute mess, food was decent but the wait was insane. Had us write on a notebook with our name and number, which was efficient in the end but this place is seriously understaffed and unorganized. Many serves running around the place hectic as heck, this felt like watching a Circus. Also had a friend place a pick up order and there was clearly some miscommunication issues. Had to wait 20 minutes to get after we were already done eating and table being cleared. Out of all the hibachi places I’ve been to.. this is certainly the most unorganized, hectic and most chaotic place I ever went to. Do better.

We ordered delivery from DoorDash, dinner for two, featuring chicken, steak, scallops, shrimp, and an order of crab rangoon and gyoza. Regrettably, every dish had an overpowering fishy taste that rendered not only the seafood inedible but also gave the meats, rice, and vegetables an odd flavor of their own. After a few bites, we felt nauseous and couldn’t continue eating. Additionally, the miso soup seemed to have been diluted with water to the point where it lacked flavor.
When I reached out to the restaurant manager the next day to voice our concerns, I was met with rudeness and a lack of understanding. She informed me that I should return the food to the restaurant so she could inspect it, which was frustrating after spending $83.70 on meals we couldn’t consume. We put the remainder of the dishes in the refrigerator overnight to be discarded the next day.
This disappointing experience has made it clear that we won’t be returning. We strongly recommend saving your money and choosing the Ann Arbor location over the Canton location. Though we typically refrain from writing reviews, we feel it’s essential to share this experience to help others avoid a similar fate. Given the poor customer service, subpar quality of food, and the way the food was cooked, we do not recommend this restaurant. The food tasted like it wasn’t fresh and would have made us sick if we had eaten the whole meal.

I went to celebrate my sons. Our server was rude and so was the manager. We had a coupon for a free appetizer with the purchase of a $25 entree. They lied to us and said it’s for certain locations but the email doesn’t say that the server said I’m going to get my tip regardless so I don’t care you can’t use it. Wouldn’t let us use it. The restaurant smell like sewage the staff were awful and food was 2 out of 10 only thing good about restaurant is the chefs but even they’re basic for a hibachi experience. Will never go back to this location!

A damn mess. They’ll add a tip on your tab and then have the audacity to ask for more? Just greedy! Also I can clearly tell this place is being run by unorganized people, you can’t expect people to enjoy the environment when you have 4 servers running around each other. Also saw the owner lady taking tips from some jar, and when confronted about it to another server she caved in. Definitely would recommend you go anywhere else besides this place, you’ll be dissatisfied and disappointed.

It was quiet for lunch, but that didn’t stop the great energy of of hibachi Chef. He was polite, funny and personable. Our server was very sweet and made sure to ask about allergies and knowledgeable about any and all questions

Ichiban gave us a fantastic hibachi experience! The food was absolutely delicious, with perfectly cooked steak, buttery shrimp, and flavorful fried rice and teriyaki noodles. The hibachi chef was incredibly entertaining, keeping us laughing with fun tricks and fiery displays. Portions were generous, and we appreciated the relaxed atmosphere—they didn’t rush us and let us enjoy our meal. On the dinner side, the restaurant has cozy booths with beaded curtains, adding a touch of privacy and romance. A perfect spot for an impromptu date night.
