If you’re anywhere near Point Pleasant and craving sushi that actually hits, Ichiban is a must-stop. It’s one of those places that doesn’t scream for attention, but once you eat there, you get why it has such a loyal following and so many happy customers.
The fish is consistently fresh, the rice is perfectly balanced, their miso soup and salad are absolutely delicious and hits perfectly before the main course (make sure to ask for the ginger sauce not just for the salad, you’ll thank me later) and every roll feels thoughtfully put together rather than simply overloaded for show. If you’re going for recommendations, you really can’t miss with their specialty rolls. Bold flavors, clean presentation, and just the perfect amount of creativity. Surf & Turf is my favorite one! Their classic rolls are just as solid, which says a lot about the kitchen’s fundamentals and consistency.
Beyond sushi, the menu has plenty to keep everyone happy, from hibachi to cooked options that don’t feel like an afterthought. Service is beyond friendly (the best service I’ve ever had in my life) and very efficient, and the atmosphere is relaxed, being a great option for both a casual dinner and a simple night out for delicious meals.
In short: Ichiban is truly reliable, delicious, and genuinely satisfying. If you’re looking for a go-to Asian food spot in Point Pleasant, this is one you’ll always want to come back to.

Two other couples were seated after us and ordered and got their food first!?!? With one of the dinner I know was the same thing, Steak and shrimp. The vegetables were overcooked, the steak tasted old and EVERYTHING was SALTY! Oh and way too much dressing on the salad with water in the bottom of the bowl.Only reason I gave a 2 was the yum yum roll was delicious! Bathroom was filthy.

The steak was ok. Some pieces were good and others tasted weird. The veggies were great in a very tasty sauté, the fried rice was probably the worst thing. It did not have the flavor of fried rice and just tasted like brown rice. Not the worst hibachi but not the best. The prices are great and if I were back in the area I would go again to try another menu item.

First time eating there. Met family and they already had a table so I am unsure how long the wait was. Server was friendly and nice. Food was relatively quick. We all ordered some version of the hibachi dinners. Some much food. Such delicious food. I failed to take any pictures. Will definitely go back! Chicken and shrimp hibachi, steak hibachi, order of crab rangoon, 2 sodas was about $50 before tip. Not terrible for the quality and amount of food!

I ordered takeout from this place after a longggg drive just wanting something sufficient. I only ordered a hibachi chicken entree and a sushi roll. These guys went ABOVE AND BEYOND !! Everything was delicious but they also gave me miso soup and a salad! Made my night! So lovely to get that unexpectedly after a long day. Staff were so sweet too. If i was a local i’d be a regular!

Very relaxed place! Been in for both lunch and dinner. Visited Point Pleasant for other reasons, but my wife wanted to try it. My wife and I live in Western Ohio. We made a trip to Point Pleasant just to go a second time. Food was to die for, staff was friendly and it is clean. Not bad prices either! Definitely recommend checking it out, if you’re in the area!!! You’ll think about it, when you’re not even in WV.

Just come and plan a visit to see a statue of Mothman today. My wife and I trying to look something to eat and we can’t believe in a small town like this has a Japanese Restaurant. The atmosphere was great and the service was excellent! The food was magnificent! My wife has the hibachi lobster and shrimp the portion was huge and the price was reasonable. I have the sushi and sashimi! The food was fresh! I can’t believe how excellent this place is. If we ever plan back to visit Point Pleasant again, we for sure we come back! What a wonderful dining experience!

Tried this place for lunch today. They were fairly busy. We were seated quickly, our orders were taken and arrived quickly. The staff was all very friendly. The prices were decent and the food was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning again soon! Try the Ichiban Jalepeno appetizer, it was actually pretty spicy and had a great balance of flavor.
