We ordered the Sushi for Two from the dinner menu, which includes six rolls chosen by the restaurant. Ours included a Dragon Roll, a Philadelphia Roll, a Snow Mountain roll, and three raw specialty rolls. The sushi itself was fine and tasted fresh.
Value-wise, it’s a mixed bag. You do save about ten dollars compared to ordering the same six rolls à la carte, but it does not come with soup or salad, which was surprising for the price. What really stood out is that the sushi buffet includes the exact same rolls for about twenty dollars less, making that a much better deal overall.
I’ve ordered takeout from here before and had a great experience. The food was hot, fresh, and ready on time. I would order takeout again, but next time I’d skip the Sushi for Two and go with the buffet or individual rolls instead.

Had a very nice lunch. I got the sushi/sashimi California roll combo. It was delicious the fish was fresh and cut well. The miso soup was flavorful and tasty on a cold day. My wife got the udon vegetarian bowl and she said it was very good. The food came out quickly after ordering, perfect for lunch if you don’t have a lot of time to sit around. The service could have been a bit more attentive but overall very good.

The service, food, and value are top-notch at Ichi Tokyo. This is one of the best spots in Southern Minnesota for Asian cuisine.
Service: The servers know the menu front to back and are always ready to make recommendations for newcomers. I have always had responsive and friendly service.
Food: The quality of the dishes speak for themselves. See the photos attached here or on their website.
Value: More than “just sushi”, Ichi Tokyo has a wide variety of Japanese and pan-Asian food at a good price. But the stand out value is their all you can eat sushi and appetizer menu.
Conclusion: Ichi Tokyo is one of the premier restaurants in the Rochester area and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience.

Me and my mom are in town because she’s getting treatment at the Mayo Clinic so went for lunch and I got the all you can eat sushi. The rolls were fresh and delicious and the edamame was spectacular. My mom got the chicken hibachi and said that it was delicious, chicken perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing. our waiter was friendly and attentive. overall a very good experience and will be back!

I’m not even truly sure what to write for this review. My fiancé and I went to the north location for a date night. We walked in, got sat within less than 2 minutes. I guess we were the last available table as the place was pretty packed on a Friday at 5:30 pm. We got sat at a booth, had been seating looking through the menu for several minutes. The waitress then came to us and apologized for the inconvenience but we were being moved to the bar “if that was okay with us”. I was hesitant and didn’t really want to say yes but did because I assumed there was a reason but none was given. Another couple, much older than us as mid 20’s, that had come in after us then were seated at the same table we were just at. We were not given any explanation of why and we were not told of a wait time or possibly a reservation that was made? We moved to the bar kind of in shock for a second but then ended up just leaving. Neither of us drink so being at the bar just is not the night we had planned. Very poor service and feel very offended from this bizarre situation.

Came in starving, left within inches of purging, exactly what I want from all you can eat sushi. In fact, the waiter told us he couldn’t believe we ate all the food we ordered, a great compliment in my culture. One of the crazier Wednesday nights in recent memory. Would make another appearance, but certainly not for a few months

The food here was excellent, no complaints at all about the kitchen. Unfortunately, the experience was pulled down drastically by our server. We came out for my wife’s birthday, and we only saw our server about four times the entire night, including when she first asked for our drink order. I actually had to flag her down (which I never do) just to place our food order.
My wife’s drink was refilled once, and my water sat empty for most of the meal. After finishing, we waited nearly 30 minutes from the time our plates were cleared to finally get our bill. It’s a shame, because the food really was great, we just got stuck with the wrong server. Another server nearby seemed to be taking great care of their tables while ours spent time folding silverware and avoiding her section.
Overall, the food deserves 5 stars, but the service completely ruined what should have been a nice night out.

My wife and I found the South Rochester location of Ichi Tokyo when we visited the area to fly fish the Southeast Minnesota driftless zone. It had very fresh sushi and sashimi along with excellent service in a small “fast-food-like” venue. We found the food of high quality and (because we were still wearing our fishing clothes) didn’t mind the informal atmosphere. This time, for a surprise fly fishing trip for my birthday, we tried the North Rochester restaurant. The food was just as fresh and the service was just as attentive but the atmosphere was more formal but not too much so. I chose for the $32 all you can eat option and had plenty despite a limit on the number of sashimi and Nigeria pieces (3 each). All was very good. We will definitely return when in the area and order some of the things I was too full to try.

We came in around 12:30ish for lunch, and our server was Daniel. He was excellent!! Very quick, and very polite.
We did the all you can eat sushi, and it was fantastic! Definitely recommend the chef roll!

We went for sushi, choosing Ichi because they reported having tamari (gluten-free soy sauce) — they DID. I ordered a bento box and my son had two maki — tuna/avocado and caterpillar (eel/avocado/cucumber). In just about everything, flavor was lacking. Tempura was HEAVY and greasy in my bento; teriyaki had little flavor and the shumai missed the mark. The tuna maki was good; both eel maki were very thin on eel. Our waiter was friendly but not particularly efficient. The best part of our meal was going to Flapdoodles next door for ice cream.
