We visited ICHI on 15th February for a family dinner and had an outstanding experience. From the first course to the last, the quality and precision were evident. The tempura was light and perfectly crisp, not oily, and served with a well-balanced dipping sauce. The sushi selection stood out — extremely fresh fish, clean flavors, and beautifully executed presentation. The truffle-topped rolls added depth without overpowering the ingredients.
The main course was cooked exactly right: tender, juicy, and complemented by a rich but controlled sauce. Every element on the plate felt intentional.
Service was professional, attentive, and well-paced throughout the evening. The atmosphere is calm and refined, making it ideal for a special occasion.
This is true fine dining in Kiel — high quality, thoughtful execution, and absolutely worth the price. A well-deserved five stars.

We had an amazing multi-course dinner at Ichi, truly authentic Japanese food, presented in a delightful way. The taste and quality can keep up with fine dining in Japan itself, which I experienced while traveling there.
The staff at Ichi is very attentive, friendly and explained each course in detail. I particularly liked that they combined traditional Japanese recipes with local ingredients from Kiel and around.
I highly recommend Ichi – although not cheap, you get excellent value for your money.

Our dinner at ICHI was an unforgettable experience. It was a unique opportunity to learn about Japanese food culture, culinary philosophy and hospitality. We were treated with great attention in a remarkably tranquil, almost meditative atmosphere. We are truly grateful to our waitress, Miyuko, who guided us through the entire meal, commenting on the ingredients and suggesting wine and sake pairings for each dish. Her recommendations were spot on! It was a particular pleasure to watch Chef Tanaka and his sous-chef at work in the kitchen – with remarkable dedication and artistic grace.
Every dish from the 5-course menu we sampled was phenomenal – full of flavour, texture and colour. Each sip of sake and wine enhanced the flavour and refreshed the mouth for the next bite. We were surprised to discover how well some German and French wines actually go with Japanese dishes! The highlight of the evening – small bites of heavenly-tender wagyu beef.
All in all, ICHI is a truly exceptional place for a special occasion – a place to stop the flow of time, to savour every moment, to pay attention to details, words, experiences.

Ich hatte an einem Wochenende endlich mal wieder etwas umverplante Zeit und habe kurzerhand mit meine Sohn beschlossen mal wieder richtig lecker essen zu gehen.
Da wir gerne japanisch essen und schon mal sehr gute Erfahrungen im Restaurant Ichi in Kiel gemacht hatten, haben wir dort einen Tisch am gleiche Tag über die Webseite reserviert. Die Reservierung war wenige Minuten später sogar außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten bestätigt und der Empfang war sehr zuvorkommen und freundlich.
Wir entschieden uns für das 5 Gänge Menü und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Alle Gänge waren vorzüglich und die Menge genau richtig. Besonders haben uns wieder die Vor- und Nachspeise und die Sushis gefallen. Die waren allesamt einfach perfekt. Aber auch das Hauptgericht war sehr lecker.
Zusammen mit einem Aperitif und Weisswein haben wir 140 € pro Person bezahlt, was wir als absolut angemessen für die Leistung empfunden haben.
Vielen Dank an das Team für das tolle Essen und die zuvorkommende Bewirtung. Wir werden bestimmt wieder kommen!
