The little bits of steak in the empanadas were well-marinated and really tender. Breading wasn’t too thick, side sauces were bright and complimented the empanadas perfectly.
The fry on the plantains was just right to get that sticky/crispy crust on them without overdoing it and drying them out.
10 outta 10 delicious.
The sauces take it to another level—especially the Colombian ahi . They’re the kind of extras you start craving on their own. The staff is super friendly, and the vibe is relaxed and welcoming. It’s the kind of place you go once and immediately start planning your next visit.
If you’re in Wilmington and want something quick, delicious, and made with love, this spot is a must. I Love Empanadas lives up to its name.
I ordered a steak empanada and a Colombian sausage empanada. The sausage one was fine. Nothing amazing. Just… there.
The steak empanada though? Yeah, that was ground beef. Not chopped steak. Not sliced steak. Straight-up ground beef. If I wanted ground beef, I would’ve ordered a ground beef empanada. Calling that “steak” is some creative writing-level false advertising.
Nothing was outright terrible, which somehow made it worse. You pay premium prices expecting premium honesty, not a surprise meat bait-and-switch.
Overall: small portions, big price, and a steak empanada that absolutely was not steak. Very disappointed. I guess I don’t love empanadas anymore.
