I & J Fountain Restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in metro Phoenix. The owners and staffs are super nice, the food are amazing, fresh and always tasty, portions are huge. No matter if you go with the Polish or American options, they both cannot go wrong. My favorite was the prime rib, I wanted it to be medium cooked and Mr. chef cooked it perfectly! The atmosphere inside the restaurant is amazing, the decorations are unique. Oh did I forget to mention there is always either live music, karaoke or all other types of shows always available? Just by paying an average price by comparing to all other restaurants in return of great food and great entertainment, there is nothing I can complain about. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a fun night!

Went to the restaurant tonight based on the fave reviews. This can’t be the same restaurant. Yes, there was country music. Old country music. In fact, the entire experience reminded me of visiting an old-folks home. Most of the patrons we saw were in their late 70s to mid-80s. The decor was tired and stale, reminiscent of a 1980’s family diner gone to seed. The food was equally stale- steamed chicken flashed on a grill to look like it was broiled, but in reality, was soft and gooey. The “steamed vegetables” (cut string beans and sliced carrots) looked and tasted as if they came from cafeteria cans- mushy, watery, and tasteless. Everything about the dinner screamed “convalescent hospital.”. My chicken fried steak was decent, but again, when paired with the tasteless vegetables, was sad. Even the dinner rolls looked old and tired- generic wheat rolls with no flavor. The one bright spot was the split pea soup, but my wife’s dinner salad was tiny and floating in water. Even after turning back her untouched dinner, they still charged us $4 for her dinner salad (she ate about half). Small portions, high prices, old and tired decor, slow service, and mushy food did was not offset by the boring music. At least the beer was cheap.

Food is good. Especially the Polish dish. I have had the honey fried chicken, liver and onions and the Full Polish platter. All the food was surprisingly very good. Full of flavor.

I love that they support live music! The prime rib has always been tasty. I’ve had other menu items, and it has always been good, but I generally order the prime rib. It is a hidden gem in Surprise.

We have been going to this place for over 14 years, in fact we got married there in 2008 and our daughter got married there 11years ago! You won’t find 2 more hard working people Izabela and Jose anywhere (Julian is also an awesome waiter) We have NEVER had a bad meal there in all the years we’ve been going there! Izabela and Jose are all about customer satisfaction and if you aren’t satisfied and don’t feel good when you leave there maybe you should stick to drive thru’s! Monday and Tuesday nites is the best place for karaoke and the hostess Sandie is the BEST IN THE WEST! We been going to karaoke there for over 14 years and will continue going for dinner and singing for the next 14 years!! Thank you I & J for good food, good service and a good time -Susan
