Hyde Park exceeded my expectations this evening, especially considering the mixed reviews I had heard. My family of four and I dined, choosing the Harwell, filet, HP burger, sea bass, and the double cut pork chop, which I personally ordered, along with several sides, a salad, and cocktails. From valet to manager, everyone had positive attitudes and provided a true 5-star experience level of care. Our waiters Christian and Ulysses especially took very good care of us being extremely patient and flexible during our time in. With conclusion, everything was absolutely delicious and extremely hospitable of which made for a fantastic first impression. I will personally be returning in the very near future as well as promoting you all to many others! Thanks again.

The atmosphere is old Birmingham, very nice and nostalgic.
Our server was attentive at first, but once the food arrived, we didn’t see him again. One person in our group was served raw chicken. Because the restaurant is dimly lit, he didn’t realize at first. When I tried a piece under better lighting, it was clearly raw. Even the server admitted he wouldn’t eat it.
It took about 15 minutes to address the issue, and by the time a replacement entrée came out, the rest of us were already finished eating. To make matters worse, both the raw chicken and the replacement entrée were included on the bill…..we were charged twice.
The mac and cheese was also extremely oily and lacked flavor.
It’s disappointing because the ambiance is lovely, but food safety and billing errors completely overshadowed the evening.

The service was excellent and Aubrey our waitress was so good and so accommodating with everything. Me and my girlfriend came here for Valentine’s Day and we found a piece of hair wrapped around our calamari then I wanted my steak cooked medium well they literally bought out a medium rare steak. The manager came out to talk to us but tbh it didn’t seem like she cared or anything she just gave us her card and walked away. I feel like she could’ve done something better other than taking off the calamari off the bill and that’s all. By far this is the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in Birmingham. I’ll just stick to 220 and market because they never disappoint.

It looks upscale and nice inside, but the service doesn’t compare. The service is more like a Big Boy/diner. We had made a reservation. When we arrived the restaurant was not busy. It did start to fill up. We had noticed they pick and choose which people get offered a coat check. A coat check would had been nice if offered to our party. It took over an hour to get our entrees. We noticed people that were sat after us getting their entrees before us. Once we did get our entrees , the server insisted on dishing out our side dishes individually. That was a bit strange, but we accepted. As he got to the last person to dish out the remainder of potatoes, he scooped the potatoes onto her plate and then proceeded to ask her if she like to “scrape the rest of the potatoes from the dish.” Understandably, we found it completely offensive and unprofessional. Then, it came time for him to dish out the asparagus. He went around dishing out everyone’s asparagus, when he got to the last person there wasn’t anymore. She never was given any asparagus put on her plate. The server didn’t say anything about it and just left the table. He never came back with more asparagus for the last person at our table. From this, that person ended up feeling disrespected by his behavior and actions. The unprofessionalism of that server put a damper on the whole experience and created a certain aura that was uncomfortable for everyone at the table.

My business partner and I recently came here to celebrate his birthday. This review is mainly directed at manager Brandon. The food was good, our waitress was very welcoming and attentive. The one mistake was bringing a bottle with the same name, but not the bottle I requested. An honest mistake. We double checked with our server if there was going to be a problem, they specified there wouldn’t be. I run a business so why would a manager think that having an outburst and ridiculing a server in front of the other staff and guests? Very unprofessional. As I was passing by I could hear and see “a manager” yelling, speaking in such a terrible manner, and causing a scene. We got uncomfortable, gave our server extra compensation for money was not an issue with us. Will not be returning because of management.

Alex/Alexis is an EXCEPTIONAL waitress. She was very detailed on the menu, friendly, attentive to the table, listened about food allergies. We were all very pleased with the service! So much so that we only want her going forward.
The food was ok. My hubby had the Japanese Waygu where the chef came out to explain and show the steak along with presenting my hubby with a certificate of authenticity. My sister and I had filets which were def overdone. We both asked for medium and received well done. She had hers recooked and I just kept mine.
The ambiance and the decor are fabulous. We spent about $700 including a tip of $110. Will we be back, yes we will. Next time I’ll ask for a medium rare steak. If you dine here, please let me know your thoughts.

Have eaten at HP Birmingham several times and the food is good. Recommend the lobster escargot style, oysters, and tuna tower apps. The steaks are always cooked as ordered. Gave 4 stars on food only because of the horseradish sauce on the beef carpaccio, it is too overpowering for the dish–if you’re eating carpaccio you want to taste the beef. Service given 4 stars because the valet was confusing, you were maybe supposed to stop in the one lane street and wait for someone to come out. There was no visible valet. My friend did figure it out, and they just parked on the street. The service she tipped for was just handing her her keys – car not started, door not opened, not brought out so you didnt have to squeeze between cars covered in salt. And I was not valet and only three spaces down from her. Atmosphere is generally fine, can be a little loud, but clean, nicely decorated, friendly staff. HOWEVER, there was a table behind us who spent at least 30 minutes taking photos with their flash on and it was irritating.
