We visited from Mississippi. The food was great but the service even better. We met a kindred soul when we met our server Gabriella. She is the absolute sweetest and most thoughtful person ever. Appreciated her so much that we came back for a second visit and brought my sister along with my husband and I. You can get good food at a lot of places but exceptional service is hard to find. Thanks again Gabriella and Hy-Vee Market grill for hiring her. I would also like to add that we went to the grocery department and all the employees we walked past greeted us warmly. If I am ever in Des Moines again, I will frequent your establishment.

Went out for HyChi and ordered some egg drop soup, and this is what we got. My wife and toddler ate a bit before we noticed. I brought it to the attention of a shift manager and he was very apologetic and swiftly took care of the issue, but keep an eye on your food.

We usually really like their food but today was disappointing. Only reason I’m posting here is bc we already address it with our server and she basically acted as if they couldnt do anything about it. Fries were chewy, not fresh. Wontons were over cooked. We ask to have them recooked. They came back the same way and acted like they would be raw if it were cooked any other way. Would love to post pics but I don’t see an option

Scrumptious offerings. Always very fresh, hot and savory. Have dined in, and ordered takeout with both same consistent quality. When friends over – kids takeout servings have varied in quality but still good and generous. Delivery on takeout is never long. Worth your time.

Love this place, they do not waste food, they use rhem in the restaurant the have, or make their own salads, etc… the service in Sioux Falls are great. Here the cashier was not in a good mood.

If you live close, it’s super convenient and priced pretty fairly. The menu selection is limited though, considering there is a literal grocery store worth of food right there. I can only assume the kitchen staff receives no real training and consists of people with a casual interest in food prep but dont want to work at a fast food joint. Most of the staff is very friendly, but not that helpful if you have in depth questions about what is available, wine pairings, etc.
I definitely recommend it for the daily specials like half price appetizers, sushi, and wine, and the Sunday brunch is decent too.
It’s a grocery store diner. As long as that’s what you expect, and not high class fine dining, then you get exactly what you pay for and can leave completely satisfied with the experience. I go fairly regularly, as the specials make it worth the visit despite the limited selection.

Good but wayyy overpriced breakfast buffet. Got there and the waitress told us they had a good deal going on today with the breakfast buffet, we agreed to try it not thinking much of the price (everything else on the menus is under 12 dollars) after eating out cold breakfast we got a 42 dollar bill for two people. We were outraged by the price we had been tricked into. Do not go there for breakfast, prices are scams and food will be cold.
Update: I was compensated for half of my meal, manager was very polite and understood my concern.

Have eaten here many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service is hit or miss, but there are several great servers. Food has usually been fantastic when eaten in the restaurant. I would not recommend take-out sushi, as my rolls were mushed together badly.

Went there for breakfast. Waited at least 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge us or at least give us menus. When a couple that came in after us was waited on, we got up and walked out. Terrible service!! We will never go back. I heard that Hy-Vee is thinking about closing their Market Grilles…. probably a good idea.
