Timothy and Mike are the best! They provide the best service!! They keep us coming back! My wife laughed when I wanted to take her out for dinner at Hy-Vee. It became one of our favorites for dinner and happy hour. They have good food and great drinks with great prices. We come in multiple times a week sometime to visit and can’t wait to come back!

You would never guess that a bar in a grocery store would be so delightful. The new bartender, Timothy, has made this a favorite spot for me and my husband.
Last night, after a long day watching our niece play in a tournament, I was so happy to see my new favorite bar tender. Timothy was making mojitos! The first time I went in, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to drink. Timothy asked me what I liked and made me something delicious.
He is great with kids! I watched him delight a little girl with strawberry ice cream, topped with the cutest sliced up strawberry rose! Adorable.
I can’t wait to see what else he can do!

This was unexpected. I went in expecting a grocery store bar, and what I found was a delight. The bartender, Timothy, was a treasure. He is personable and kind, and he really knows the art of making a good cocktail. His old fashioned was based on ideas picked up from mixology texts such as Liquid Intelligence and Cocktail Codex. He has been making drinks for 17 years, and his Mai tai and old fashioneds are awesome.
Timothy was a genuine and open guy, and made me forget I was at a grocery store bar.
The food was good from both the boneless wings to the Chinese. The portions were huge!
As much as it surprises me, next time I’m back in Iowa, I will return to Hyvee for one of the most fun dining experiences I have had here.

Almost walked away after standing at hostess station for quite some time and not being greeted. Food was adequate if not very warm. Hair in one plate. Long dark hair which none of us had. In the middle of our meal, someone stopped by to ask if our ketchup was full?? We were not using it so I am not sure why we had to stop our conversation to answer. Literally made the young girl at the table beside us lift her feet so they could sweep under her table. They had just sat her so I am not sure why they could not sweep underneath before that. Especially since when I was walking out there were many unoccupied tables that were very messy under Neath

We came here from Altoona to specifically to eat at this location planning to have a delicious breakfast. The hostess took our drink order and they were brought by “our waitress”. She didn’t bring a drink for our kid so we asked her for one. She said she would get it and then come back to take our order. We sat there for almost 20 minutes while three tables seated after us got their orders taken. We decided to leave at this point. We have always loved this Hyvee and were pretty disappointed. Instead we went to Corner Cafe in Urbandale. They have amazing food and I recommend this place to anyone looking for a local breakfast place! The service is wonderful!
